Big day for our portfolio — Comfi.ai has closed its $65M pre-Series A, and we're proud to be part of it. The round combines equity from Iliad Partners, Raw Ventures and others, with a mezzanine facility structured by Shorooq Partners and Partners for Growth. We first invested in Comfi betting on a simple idea: B2B payments in MENA are broken — manual, slow, and credit-starved — and whoever rebuilds this layer will define how regional commerce scales. And the numbers speak for themselves:  - 900% YoY revenue growth,  - 630% GMV growth,  - 300% more active customers, 10,000+ invoices processed, - 1,000+ clients and 3,000+ finance leaders on the platform. By embedding AI-driven underwriting into the payment flow, Comfi turns 60–120 day receivables into liquidity in as little as 24 hours — capital that suppliers can actually put back to work. Congrats to Sanjar S., Alisher Akbarov, Amal Abdullaev, Dennis Gavrilin and the whole team. Onwards.

Comfi.ai, a B2B embedded finance platform, has raised US$65 million in a Pre-Series A funding round consisting of both equity and debt. The equity round was led by Iliad Partners and joined by Yango Ventures and Raw Ventures, both making their first investment in the region. The round includes a credit facility from Partners for Growth and a mezzanine facility structured by Shorooq, with participation from a notable family office. The new funding will support Comfi’s next stage of growth, including scaling its underwriting and risk capabilities, expanding its product offering, and accelerating growth across key regional markets. "Every investor in this round saw a different opportunity, and that's exactly what made the structure work,” says Comfi’s co-founder and CEO Sanjar Samiev. "The venture debt and credit facility players saw a clear path to originating high volumes of capital securely through Comfi and earning their yield. The equity investors saw the growth trajectory and wanted to be in the same boat early. These aren't conflicting motivations, they’re complementary ones." "What the structure ultimately gives us is freedom. We can grow aggressively for the next 18 months without the pressure of an imminent raise, and we have the time and resources to build toward a significantly larger round from a position of strength, not necessity." Founded in 2023 and headquartered in the UAE, Comfi was established by Samiev, Alisher Akbarov, Amal Abdullaev, and Dennis Gavrilin. It has processed over 15,000 invoices, works with 4,000+ finance leaders, and serves more than 1,000 clients, reflecting growing demand for fast, flexible SME capital solutions across the region. • We’ve doubled down on Vitrinnea (El Salvador). Vitrinnea is a recommerce platform building the operating infrastructure for second-hand sellers across Central America — digitizing a market that is still largely informal, fragmented, and growing fast. We first invested early, and are now following on. The traction speaks for itself: — 4.7x ARR YoY growth — ~100K active buyers & 1~00K active sellers And beyond the numbers — strong market signal: — #1 in the Shopping category on the App Store in El Salvador — Ahead of Amazon, SHEIN, and Temu This is not marketplace hype — this is repeat usage, strong cohorts, and real unit economics. Expansion is already underway: Guatemala (launched April 2025) with Costa Rica, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic next. In a region where resale is still largely offline, Vitrinnea is building the infrastructure layer — enabling trust, logistics, and transactions between buyers and sellers.

Comfi is building core infrastructure for digital trade — bringing automation, trust, and financing into everyday business transactions. We invested in August 2025, and now, with the year behind us, here’s what they’ve achieved: 900% YoY revenue growth 630% GMV growth 300% growth in active customers By digitizing B2B credit and making it accessible, Comfi is solving liquidity constraints and unlocking growth for thousands of SMEs across the region.

  • Thrilled to share that we’ve made our first investment in Nigeria — backing Gigmile as they build financial infrastructure for Africa’s gig economy. Gigmile provides vehicle financing and embedded financial services for delivery drivers and gig workers — a segment powering the continent’s digital commerce, yet still largely underserved by traditional finance. Welcome to the portfolio, Gigmile!

Last week our team joined FLUIDITY Riyadh — big thanks to Jason Njoku for the invite! Was great to dive deeper into the African and KSE startup ecosystems — we already work closely with many founders and funds in these markets, but mostly over Zoom. This was our first in-person meetup, and it made a huge difference. Looking forward to building more together

  • We’re excited to announce our new portfolio company: Zanifu (Kenya). Zanifu is a fintech platform enabling access to working capital for SMEs across Africa. Through embedded lending and strong data underwriting, they’re helping small businesses purchase inventory, grow faster, and stay liquid — without the usual friction. The traction speaks for itself: — $60M+ in loans disbursed — 15,000+ SMEs financed — Breakeven for two consecutive months In a market where most small retailers are excluded from formal credit, Zanifu is building critical financial infrastructure from the ground up — embedded, real-time, and high-impact.
