Associate Attorney

A highly regarded AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking an Insurance Coverage Associate to join its nationally recognised Insurance Recovery & Coverage practice in Los Angeles.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with policyholder-side insurance coverage experience who is looking to work on sophisticated coverage disputes, recovery matters, and strategic counselling assignments across a broad range of industries.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will represent corporate policyholders in complex insurance coverage matters involving high-value claims, major disputes, and strategic risk management issues. The role offers significant responsibility, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to work closely with leading practitioners in the insurance recovery space.

Responsibilities

• Represent policyholders in insurance coverage litigation, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution proceedings
• Advise clients on insurance recovery strategy and coverage issues
• Analyse and interpret complex commercial insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage provisions
• Draft coverage opinions, pleadings, motions, briefs, and substantive legal memoranda
• Assist clients in securing defence and indemnity coverage for significant claims and losses
• Work closely with insurers, brokers, adjusters, underlying defence counsel, and corporate clients to maximise recovery opportunities
• Support all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation

Requirements

• 3-5 years of insurance coverage, insurance recovery, or policyholder-side coverage litigation experience
• Experience representing policyholders in coverage disputes and recovery matters
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Ability to manage matters with increasing independence
• Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills
• Strong academic credentials
• Active California Bar admission in good standing
