Executive Legal Recruiter | Attorney | Author and Independent Scholar
We are working with a broad-based, growing, international, commercial firm serving a wide range of legal sectors with a strong heritage in insurance, health and real estate law. The firm seeks an Associate Litigation Attorney with one to three years (1-3) experience who is ready to take on a varied caseload, in its Los Angeles Office, spanning insurance coverage and defense work, together with some bad faith defense and general commercial litigation work. The role offers significant client exposure and responsibility from the outset. The hired attorney will work directly with senior partners, as they build the firm's West Coast practice.
The expected compensation for the position is $150,000-$170,000/yr. The firm offers benefits about which it will supply the details. The position is hybrid—details are available from the firm; and the firm’s hiring team is happy to speak to candidates about flexible working, in accordance with its Flex Forward scheme. Candidates should expect to submit writing samples, upon application. The firm may also require a law school transcript.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting partners and colleagues on insurance and commercial litigation matters across the full spectrum of coverage and defense work
Drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, correspondence, and litigation reports
Conducting depositions and attending court proceedings
Handling motion practice and supporting case strategy
Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda on coverage, bad faith, and general litigation issues
Working directly with clients on case updates, strategy, and reporting, in line with client quality and service standards
Handling the assigned caseload in an organized and proactive manner
Building an understanding of the clients’ businesses and the firm's broader service offerings
QUALIFICATIONS
Admission, in good standing, to the California Bar
One to three (1-3) years of post-admission litigation experience at a U.S. law firm
Strong pre-litigation and litigation foundation, including drafting, research, discovery, motion practice, and depositions
Ability to analyze complex factual scenarios and apply legal principles to reach commercially sound outcomes
Confident, professional client-facing communication
Composure and clear judgment under pressure, particularly for clients in crisis
Strong academic record
A collaborative, team oriented working style with a willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues
Insurance coverage or insurance defense experience (preferred)
Experience at a sophisticated civil litigation firm (preferred)
Exposure to the London market or international insurer work (preferred)
Trial experience (preferred)
