Confidential Opportunity: Ground-Up Commercial Superintendent

We are working on a confidential, high-priority Superintendent search for an established commercial general contractor with a strong national footprint and a heavy Southern California project pipeline.

This role is ideal for a field leader who has successfully run ground-up commercial construction, especially large-format projects such as grocery, warehouse, distribution, big-box retail, light industrial, or similar commercial buildings.

What They Need

The right Superintendent will be able to take ownership of large ground-up commercial work, manage subcontractors and suppliers, drive schedules, maintain safety standards, and communicate clearly with project management, clients, jurisdictions, vendors, and field teams.

This is not just a tenant improvement role. The team is specifically looking for someone who has built larger commercial projects from the ground up and can operate with independence, urgency, and steady field leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects

Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and field crews

Build and communicate project schedules, sequencing, and look-aheads

Partner closely with project management to resolve field constraints

Maintain jobsite safety meetings, records, and compliance standards

Own field quality control, inspections, punch lists, as-builts, and closeout

Review plans, identify constructability issues, and support RFI / submittal flow

Track materials, deliveries, daily logs, site conditions, and project progress

Represent the company professionally with clients, jurisdictions, and trade partners

Ideal Background

Ground-up commercial construction experience

Big-box, grocery, warehouse, distribution, retail, or light industrial experience

Ability to run a large job independently

Strong subcontractor coordination and field leadership skills

Willingness to travel as needed based on project location

Strong communication style and steady jobsite presence

OSHA 30, CPR / First Aid, Procore, Bluebeam, and scheduling software are a plus

Location / Travel

The role is field-based with projects across the U.S., including a strong Southern California workload and coverage from Texas to the West Coast.

Travel is expected when projects require it. Lodging is typically provided when the project is outside a reasonable commute, and per diem is available when staying out of town.

Compensation and Support

Base salary range: up to $150,000, depending on experience with Strong ground-up big-box builders are expected to land toward the higher end
