Description
The Global Product Manager, Cell & Gene Therapy, will join the Cell Biology team supporting cell culture media and reagents for cell and gene therapy applications. You will contribute to innovation and growth for our market-leading product portfolios and manage end-to-end product lifecycle management, from strategy development through commercialization and optimization. Working in a collaborative, global matrix organization, you'll partner with R&D, operations, marketing, sales and other cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional products that solve customer challenges. You'll conduct voice-of-customer research, define product requirements, develop business cases, coordinate product launches, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers meaningful impact and visibility, with opportunities to shape product direction through data-driven insights and strategic thinking.
Location:
This is an on-site role, working out of our office in Carlsbad, CA or Frederick, MD.
What will you do?
Lead analysis of global market trends, customer requirements, and competitive strategy. Identify new growth opportunities for growing customer and business value through product differentiation
Guide new product development including Voice-of-Customer research, defining critical customer and product requirements with prioritized features and corresponding business and financial justification with return on investment
Build and communicate global launch plans including market segmentation, value proposition, commercialization strategy, regulatory strategy, competitive analysis, forecasting, pricing, and positioning. Cross collaborate with a strong group of R&D, marketing, and commercial leaders to complete product launch plans
Lead partnership with cross-functional teams to develop the right product to fill market needs and serve as the customer advocate interacting with functional leaders including R&D, Business Development, Project Management, Manufacturing, Finance, Customer Services, Quality and Regulatory
Independently develop and deliver product training programs for external and internal customers (Technical Support, Field Application Specialists, Direct Sales & Distributors, etc.)
Proactively assess and evaluate market and competition to help develop and deploy key messages and communication strategies for the product line with global and regional Marketing support
Ownership and management of total product lifecycle. Use data to drive decision making to scope and prioritize new requirements or sunset products based on business and customer impact
Partner with commercial leadership to lead sales forecast with operations/planning to ensure accurate inventory management of product line
Develop long-term strategy and product pipeline portfolio management with senior leadership and align with business strategy
Requirements:
Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in product management, marketing, or related commercial experience
Preferred Fields of Study: Life Sciences, Business, Engineering, Marketing or related field
Proven success in product lifecycle management, from concept through commercialization
Strong business acumen and ability to develop compelling business cases and financial models
Excellence in gathering and synthesizing Voice of Customer insights
Effective cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills in matrix environment
Strong communication and presentation abilities across all organizational levels
Experience developing and executing product launch strategies and go-to-market plans
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities
Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Project management skills to coordinate multiple concurrent initiatives
Customer-centric mindset with deep understanding of market dynamics
Up to 30% travel required, including international
Knowledge of cell and gene therapy, immunotherapy and cell culture is preferred
Understanding of quality and regulatory requirements for applicable markets
Compensation And Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $113,500.00–$165,000.00.
