The University Information Security Office is seeking an engineer to support Health Sciences at the University. Health Sciences Information Security works closely with the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, and Optometry, along with several other units that interact with health data. Health Sciences Information Security supports Indiana University's designation as a Hybrid Covered Entity under HIPAA.
Designs, develops, and implements more complicated information security software and systems to address security exposures and potential threats; evaluates, recommends, and implements vended security software.
Responds to incidents of information security breaches and participates on emergency response teams.
Develops and implements solutions to address more complicated information security vulnerabilities and threats.
Documents solutions, including current intrusion methods and protections.
Makes recommendations on appropriate strategic security actions.
Researches and stays abreast of current higher education information security environment and trends; stays up-to-date on information security engineering best practices, tools, and approaches.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
