Lab Service Engineer
Location: Fremont, CA (100% Onsite)
Pay Rate: Up to $39.28/hour
Duration: 24 months Contract on W2 (Potential Extension)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lab Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and continuous improvement of advanced semiconductor equipment within an R&D laboratory environment. This role works closely with engineering teams to support prototype development, equipment validation, customer demonstrations, and new technology initiatives.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment, strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work in cleanroom environments while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on advanced semiconductor equipment.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, robotic, and system-level equipment issues.
Install, configure, and support prototype equipment for engineering and R&D activities.
Calibrate equipment and ensure optimal system performance.
Support process development, hardware engineering, software engineering, and customer demonstration activities.
Develop maintenance procedures and technical documentation for new equipment and engineering projects.
Perform equipment upgrades, modifications, and system improvements.
Utilize diagnostic equipment including digital voltmeters (DVMs) and other test instruments.
Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling hazardous materials.
Provide technical support for customer installations and field issues when required.
Train field service engineers, technicians, process engineers, and other technical personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support customer sites and engineering activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
Minimum 5 years of semiconductor equipment experience.
Experience supporting equipment in cleanroom environments.
Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Experience with robotics, pneumatics, electronics, and mechanical systems.
Proficiency using diagnostic equipment such as Digital Voltmeters (DVMs).
Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and troubleshoot complex equipment.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting R&D laboratories or prototype equipment.
Previous field service or customer support experience.
Automotive repair or complex equipment maintenance experience.
Experience training engineers or technicians.
Familiarity with semiconductor process equipment and engineering development environments.
