Maintenance Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance department at a manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations, leading maintenance teams, improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and ensuring safe and efficient facility operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, a solid background in preventive and predictive maintenance, and experience managing maintenance teams in a fast-paced production facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all maintenance operations across multiple shifts.
• Supervise, develop, and mentor Maintenance Supervisors, Mechanics, and maintenance personnel.
• Develop and manage effective Preventive Maintenance (PM) and maintenance programs.
• Create and implement long-term maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Oversee the repair, maintenance, and installation of production equipment, machinery, utilities, and facility systems.
• Ensure continuous operation of critical utility systems, including power, steam, refrigeration, HVAC, gas, and other plant utilities.
• Prioritize maintenance activities to support uninterrupted production and maximize equipment uptime.
• Develop training, cross-training, and employee development programs for the maintenance team.
• Manage maintenance staffing and ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to resolve equipment and maintenance issues.
• Manage maintenance parts, tools, equipment, and supplies to support efficient operations.
• Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget and control costs.
• Participate in capital planning and recommend equipment upgrades and facility improvements.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental, safety, quality, and other applicable regulations.
• Work effectively within a unionized environment and follow applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Support employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary processes in coordination with Human Resources.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive maintenance experience, including at least 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong experience managing maintenance operations in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience leading multi-shift maintenance teams.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Experience with production equipment, facility systems, utilities, and industrial maintenance.
• Experience with CMMS and maintenance/work order management systems.
• Strong understanding of maintenance planning, budgeting, parts management, and cost control.
• Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety and regulatory compliance, including OSHA and EPA requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering documents, specifications, and regulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
