A well-established credit hedge fund is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to help lead its Leveraged Credit strategy in New York. The mandate spans high yield bonds, leveraged loans and event-driven credit situations, and the role carries direct responsibility for idea generation, position sizing and portfolio construction.

• Take a senior seat on a well-resourced credit platform with an established track record and a culture built around rigorous, independent fundamental analysis
• Operate with significant autonomy in shaping portfolio strategy, while working alongside a seasoned investment team and senior leadership
• Play a central role in the continued growth of the leveraged credit strategy, with scope to influence process, risk framework and team build-out over time

Role & Responsibilities

• Manage a dedicated portion of the long/short leveraged credit portfolio, with accountability for position sizing, risk management, portfolio construction and trade execution
• Generate and underwrite investment ideas across high yield bonds, leveraged loans and event-driven/special situations credit
• Conduct deep fundamental credit and RV analysis on corporate issuers, including capital structure assessment, downside scenario modeling and recovery analysis
• Lead a dedicated team of credit research analysts, being responsible for allocating trades, sectors and research
• Evaluate catalyst-driven opportunities such as restructurings, refinancings, liability management exercises and other event-driven credit situations
• Monitor existing positions on an ongoing basis, tracking issuer performance, covenant developments and evolving market conditions
• Build and maintain relationships with sell-side desks, restructuring advisors, company management and other market participants to support deal flow and diligence

Candidate Profile

• Established track record as a portfolio manager or senior credit investor with a strong focus on leveraged loans, high yield bonds and/or event-driven credit
• Deep expertise in fundamental credit analysis, including capital structure work, financial modeling and downside/recovery analysis
• Demonstrated ability to identify and underwrite relative value opportunities across the leveraged credit spectrum
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of independence and conviction, while collaborating effectively within a senior investment team
• Strong existing network across the leveraged finance, high yield and restructuring communities viewed favorably
