The Scale House Attendant will manage incoming and outgoing vehicles at the Hoffman Road Landfill by weighing trucks, documenting materials and calculating fees. This position will correspond directly with residents to inspect, measure and tender payments for disposal. They will be the primary point of contact at the entrance of the facility, ensuring safety compliance, directing traffic and maintaining accurate records. The individual in this position will also act as a backup to support payroll, as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Scale Operation and Data Management: Weigh vehicles, capture gross/tare/net weights and enter data (material type, customer information and truck ID, etc.) into computer systems.
Financial Transactions: Calculate and collect fees, manage cash/credit transactions and balances monies for daily deposits.
Customer Service and Inspection: Directs traffic, corresponds with residents in-person and over the phone, inspects incoming loads for prohibited/hazardous materials and provides clear, courteous instructions to drivers.
Safety and Compliance: Enforces facility, local, state, and federal regulations for incoming solid waste or materials.
Reporting and Administration: Maintains daily logs, generates reports for management, supports payroll and reconciles transaction data with inventory.
Equipment Maintenance: Conducts routine scale inspection and maintains cleanliness in the work area.
Knowledge Of
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Operating scale to weigh loads and to problem solve basic issues.
Using printers, scanners, multiline phone system, fax machine and other office equipment.

Required Education, Experience, And Certifications
Graduation from high school or General Educational Development (GED) Tests equivalency.
Basic math skills and proficiency with computers (MS Office, data entry)
At least two (2) years of experience in a similar role (weighing, logistics, office support or tendering cash/credit transactions)
