Position: Staff Accountant – San Francisco, CA. Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting and finance operations at TCG. This is a hands-on role with significant exposure to real estate accounting, accounts payable, vendor management, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a fast learner with sharp attention to detail, who takes accountability for their work and thrives in a fast-paced, tech-forward environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
Assist in maintaining GL accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
Support month-end and year-end close processes in coordination with the Accounting Team.
Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
Process and manage AP transactions using Bill.com/AP System, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments
Code invoices to the correct GL accounts, cost centers, and properties
Maintain vendor records, onboard new vendors, and serve as a point of contact for payment inquiries
Monitor outstanding payables and support vendor statement reconciliations
Support annual 1099 reporting and assist with tax filing preparation and documentation
Expense Management
Assist in administering and monitoring employee expense reporting via Divvy
Review expense submissions for policy compliance and proper coding
Flag anomalies and escalate to the Accounting Manager as needed
Software & Process Improvement
Utilize Sage Intacct for financial data entry, reporting, and analysis
Support the team's broader goal of reducing AP processing.
Analysis & Compliance
Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses to support management decision-making
Assist with variance analysis as directed.
Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and internal controls
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In your first year, a stellar performance would include:
Building proficiency in Sage Intacct — generating detailed reports, creating journal entries, and supporting GL management
Becoming a reliable resource for AP and expense workflows in Bill.com and Divvy
Consistently supporting on-time month-end close and meeting all reporting deadlines
Contributing ideas to reduce processing time in AP and expense management
Operating with a high degree of accuracy, autonomy, and professionalism on assigned workstreams
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
1–2+ years of accounting experience
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data modeling
High integrity, exceptional attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
Strong sense of ownership and accountability — follows through on commitments and takes responsibility for the quality of their work
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred
CPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA licensure
Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Bill.com, or Divvy
Experience in real estate, private equity, or a related industry
Quick learner who proactively seeks to understand the "why" behind processes, not just the "how"
High emotional intelligence and a humble, collaborative, “can-do” attitude
3.0+ GPA
