Position: Staff Accountant – San Francisco, CA. Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting and finance operations at TCG. This is a hands-on role with significant exposure to real estate accounting, accounts payable, vendor management, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a fast learner with sharp attention to detail, who takes accountability for their work and thrives in a fast-paced, tech-forward environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Ledger & Financial Reporting

  • Assist in maintaining GL accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes in coordination with the Accounting Team.
  • Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

  • Process and manage AP transactions using Bill.com/AP System, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments
  • Code invoices to the correct GL accounts, cost centers, and properties
  • Maintain vendor records, onboard new vendors, and serve as a point of contact for payment inquiries
  • Monitor outstanding payables and support vendor statement reconciliations
  • Support annual 1099 reporting and assist with tax filing preparation and documentation

Expense Management

  • Assist in administering and monitoring employee expense reporting via Divvy
  • Review expense submissions for policy compliance and proper coding
  • Flag anomalies and escalate to the Accounting Manager as needed

Software & Process Improvement

  • Utilize Sage Intacct for financial data entry, reporting, and analysis
  • Support the team's broader goal of reducing AP processing.

Analysis & Compliance

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses to support management decision-making
  • Assist with variance analysis as directed.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and internal controls

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

In your first year, a stellar performance would include:

  • Building proficiency in Sage Intacct — generating detailed reports, creating journal entries, and supporting GL management
  • Becoming a reliable resource for AP and expense workflows in Bill.com and Divvy
  • Consistently supporting on-time month-end close and meeting all reporting deadlines
  • Contributing ideas to reduce processing time in AP and expense management
  • Operating with a high degree of accuracy, autonomy, and professionalism on assigned workstreams

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1–2+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data modeling
  • High integrity, exceptional attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability — follows through on commitments and takes responsibility for the quality of their work
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred

  • CPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA licensure
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Bill.com, or Divvy
  • Experience in real estate, private equity, or a related industry
  • Quick learner who proactively seeks to understand the "why" behind processes, not just the "how"
  • High emotional intelligence and a humble, collaborative, “can-do” attitude
  • 3.0+ GPA

WHAT TCG OFFERS

  • $90,000 total compensation ($85,000 base salary plus $5,000 annual performance bonus)
  • Clear path for growth — with strong performance, advancement toward Senior Accountant and Accounting Manager and beyond
  • Daily informal mentorship from the team, plus formal peer and executive mentorship
  • Meaningful ownership of workstreams from day one
  • Technical and interpersonal learning and development opportunities
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Hybrid work environment (San Francisco, CA — 3 days in office per week required)
