Base pay range

$170,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr

LHH is partnering with a well-established, membership- and subscription-driven organization seeking to add a Vice President of Finance to its leadership team. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to build and enhance the finance function while serving as a key strategic partner to executive leadership. The position is fully remote, with periodic travel required for leadership meetings, planning sessions, and other business-related events.


Position Overview

The Vice President of Finance will serve as a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing the organization's financial performance, reporting, planning, compliance, and overall fiscal management. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this hands-on role will play a critical part in supporting continued growth, strengthening financial infrastructure, and driving business decision-making.


The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting and finance expertise with the ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level. This leader will be responsible for developing scalable processes, enhancing financial visibility, and leading a high-performing finance team in a dynamic and evolving environment.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for finance and accounting personnel.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities


Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the company's budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, liquidity, and overall financial performance.
  • Develop actionable financial insights and recommendations to support business strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for cost management and operational efficiencies.


Accounting, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Oversee annual audit activities and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, policies, and financial governance practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Manage insurance programs and support enterprise risk management initiatives.


Tax Strategy & Oversight

  • Oversee corporate tax compliance and reporting activities.
  • Coordinate multi-state tax filings and related compliance requirements.
  • Ensure proper management of payroll, sales/use, and other indirect tax obligations.
  • Partner with external advisors on tax planning and strategy initiatives.


Team & Operational Leadership

  • Direct all core accounting and finance functions, including:
  • General Accounting
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top finance talent.
  • Create scalable processes and organizational structures to support future growth.


Executive Partnership & Board Reporting

  • Partner closely with executive leadership to provide financial guidance and strategic support.
  • Develop board-level reporting packages, dashboards, and financial presentations.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and board stakeholders.


Process Improvement & Systems Enhancement

  • Evaluate and improve financial processes, workflows, and internal controls.
  • Partner cross-functionally to increase operational efficiency and support enterprise initiatives.
  • Lead financial system implementations, upgrades, and optimization efforts.
  • Drive automation and reporting improvements to enhance decision-making capabilities.


Growth & Scalability

  • Build and maintain a scalable financial infrastructure capable of supporting continued expansion.
  • Ensure appropriate revenue recognition practices and billing controls within a recurring-revenue environment.
  • Support acquisitions, business transformations, and other strategic growth initiatives as needed.


Travel Requirements

This is a fully remote position. Occasional travel will be required for leadership meetings, board meetings, strategic planning sessions, industry events, and other business-related activities.


Qualifications

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise across accounting, FP&A, cash management, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated success building, leading, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including experience working with executive leadership and boards.
  • Strong analytical, forecasting, and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of process improvement and internal control environments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
  • Experience leading ERP implementations, upgrades, or system enhancements.
  • Knowledge of multi-state tax compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Prior exposure to recurring revenue, subscription, membership, or service-based business models is highly desirable.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • CPA, MBA, or other advanced credential strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including significant leadership responsibility.
  • Experience within small to mid-sized, growth-oriented organizations preferred.
  • Broad background spanning financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, cash management, and operational finance.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors.
  • Proven track record navigating organizational growth, transformation, or change initiatives.
