Emotionally intelligent leaders are energized to show up to work each day and extend that energy to positively influence their colleagues. As I discussed in Chapter 3, your self-awareness game plan starts with a foundation of passion. I always tell my clients, "Make your passion their passion. And make their passion yours." This inspires you to understand what makes you tick and to understand this for your employees. Those are motivating factors. Knowing what motivates you and others is what drives impact. Let's break down the meaning of motivation. Motivation is the spark, the driving force that empowers our mindset and strengthens our preparation to help us achieve our goals. Let's look at the different types of motivation. Intrinsic motivation is engaging in an activity, task, or behavior for the enjoyment or satisfaction of it.
