- [Instructor] The cloud migration strategy retire is the process of terminating or downsizing any workload that are no longer required in production. It's common for a company to have as much as 10 to 20% of their IT infrastructure that's no longer in use. Possible use cases for the retire strategy includes retiring an application that is redundant or obsolete, applications that provide no business value, even applications that are being retired to bring on a new refactored version. Retiring an application can boost your business case, thereby saving any cost associated with running the obsolete workload. Retiring an application allows your migration team to focus on business-critical workloads. When retiring workloads, you should be especially careful to determine if there are any dependencies.
