Most banks are fighting modern fraud with outdated systems ? Modern financial fraud is becoming increasingly complex, while many detection systems remain dependent on static rules and predefined thresholds. These approaches can identify familiar warning signs, but often struggle when fraudsters use synthetic identities, AI-powered deception, coordinated networks, and evolving behavioral strategies. We help financial organizations build more adaptive fraud detection capabilities by combining AI with real-time analysis of behavioral anomalies, transaction patterns, network relationships, and historical signals. This enables institutions to identify emerging threats more effectively and respond to changing fraud patterns with greater speed and accuracy. Effective fraud prevention requires more than detecting yesterday’s threats — it requires intelligence that can adapt to tomorrow’s. #Banking #Fintech #AI #FraudDetection #RiskManagement #MachineLearning #BehavioralAnalytics #FinancialServices #DigitalTransformation #AIforBusiness

Sara Costantini, Regional Director for the UK & Ireland at CRIF, is in Finextra exploring the rapid rise of AI-driven fraud, and what financial services must do to keep pace. Concern is growing fast: 75% of UK consumers now worry about AI-powered fraud, up from just 24% last year. As scams become more sophisticated, Sara looks at how the same technology driving fraud can also be used to detect and prevent it, helping firms protect customers and rebuild trust. Deepfakes. Synthetic identities. AI-generated applications. This isn’t a future scenario — it’s already hitting government programs, and it’s accelerating fast. Very important training. Register Now ! Fraud attacks have surged dramatically, with generative AI making it easier to create convincing identities and submit applications at scale, pushing traditional controls to their limits. For agencies, the impact is immediate: rising improper payments, increased audit scrutiny and mounting pressure on teams already stretched thin. The gap is growing between how fraud is executed and how it’s detected, especially as automated, high-volume attacks overwhelm manual review and legacy verification methods. This webinar will show you why current approaches are falling short and how leading organizations are using AI to detect fraud earlier — before payments go out and issues surface in audits. It takes AI to fight AI. Why attend: Understand where AI-driven fraud is hitting hardest Learn what modern, front-end fraud prevention actually requires See how agencies are using AI across identity, behavior and device intelligence to catch fraud earlier Get practical steps to strengthen audit readiness and reduce risk without slowing access for legitimate applicants Attend the live webinar to obtain your complimentary certificate of attendance! #training #webinar #deepfakes #identityfraud #syntehticidentities #police #policeleadership #publicsafety #nationalsecurity #AI #AItraining

Behind the scenes at American Banker Leaders Live. Synthetic identity is the cleanest example of why fraud is a product problem, not a modeling problem. A better classifier doesn't fix an onboarding flow that treats trust as a one-time gate. If AI can manufacture an identity in minutes, trust has to become continuous, not a single checkpoint at KYC. Joined a couple of senior operators in banking last week on this topic, in New York. Full session airing soon. #fraudprevention #identityverification #AI #syntheticidentity

The new account had a face, a voice, a government ID, and a selfie that blinked on command. None of it was real. In November 2024, FinCEN did something it almost never does — it issued a formal alert warning banks that criminals are using generative AI to walk straight through the identity checks built to stop them. Deepfaked video, cloned voices, forged documents. Rented for a few dollars a month. Here's what unsettles me most: the same technology is also the best thing that has ever happened to the people fighting laundering. More than 90% of the alerts in legacy systems are false alarms; machine learning is finally cutting through the noise so analysts can chase what's actually there. We've handed both sides a faster weapon — at the same time. I wrote about that two-front war: the synthetic identities on one side, the models quietly rebuilding detection on the other, and why the institutions that come out ahead won't be the ones with the flashiest AI, but the ones who keep human judgment in the loop. Sourced from FinCEN, the U.S. Treasury, Deloitte and EY. If you build, buy, or answer for these controls, the full analysis is attached. Which front is your team more ready for — the threat, or the defense? #AML #Compliance #FinancialCrime #AI
