Kim Noguera Gabrielli’s Post

The World Economic Forum just released a white paper for financiers looking to invest in blue carbon ecosystems 👇 Blue carbon ecosystems deliver $190 billion in services to the global economy each year. Yet they receive less than 1% of international climate finance. Without adequate financing, these habitats decline. We've already lost 30% of mangroves worldwide over the last 45 years ‼️ The white paper identifies five barriers keeping private finance out, and eight specific interventions for financial institutions to unlock investment into blue carbon conservation and restoration. If you work in sustainable finance or nature-based investment, this one is worth your time. Link in comments 🔗 Alfredo Giron Nava | Emily Kelly | Jason Carter

How about the removals over-claimed by the blue-carbon ecosystems already? Kim Noguera Gabrielli? Does the white paper mention anything about that? What sorts of ecological compensation would be suggested? Verra? Ecolance?
