Most of the market looks at these MISO transmission awards as pure utility plays, but from an M&A and capital allocation perspective, this is the ultimate bottleneck breaker. For the last three years, grid congestion in the Midwest has acted as a shadow 'risk discount' on valuations for massive, data-heavy infrastructure especially in enterprise healthcare and hyperscale compute. You cannot underwrite the scaling of predictive Al diagnostics or regional mega campuses if the local grid lacks the resiliency to handle the load growth. Projects of this scale require an enormous amount of coordination behind the scenes. Engineering alignment, permitting, contractor management, supply chain execution, and long-term operational planning all have to work together for infrastructure investments like this to succeed. Important development for reliability across the Midwest.

The long-term reliability side is what people tend to underestimate. That’s built over time through maintenance, inspection, and catching small infrastructure issues before they turn into bigger problems.

This is a very interesting development. People often talk about transmission as just more capacity, but I think the bigger value is what it does to the way the system operates. A 765 kV backbone like this can change future power flows, give operators more flexibility, and make it easier to integrate new resources without putting as much stress on the grid.
