When to drop the volume instead of raising it. How to stand so the audience reads confidence before you say a word. When you connect with a deep sense of purpose, it’s easy to get incredibly excited. Your instinct is to run at it with everything you’ve got. This happens all the time in business—we scale too quickly, we push past our limits, and we accidentally turn what should be an incredible journey into total misery. In my TEDx  talk last year, I broke down Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s foundational concept: The Flow Channel. To stay in flow, your challenges and your skills must remain in a delicate balance. You need to be growing just enough, and your skillset has to catch up to meet the demand. During my marathon in the Sahara, I tasted that beautiful state of flow at midnight, but 30 minutes later I was completely knocked out of it because I pushed myself too hard, too quickly. Ambition is a superpower, but without managing the balance between challenge and skill, you risk burning out before you ever reach the summit. Watching the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity coverage from afar last week with a glass of rosé in hand I couldn't shake the feeling that Cannes Lions is becoming less a gathering of advertisers and more a meeting place for #technologists, #creators, #entrepreneurs, #NGOs, #athletes, and business leaders—all wrestling with the same questions about creativity, technology, and influence. A few takeaways stood out: • AI isn't making creativity less valuable. It's making mediocre creativity sweat. • Judgment's currency is on the ascendency in our AI world. • Technology can scale ideas. Storytelling, trust, and purpose are still what get people to follow, and capture hearts and minds. Woke up this morning, saw this in my notifications, and couldn't scroll past it. Johanna Mio Bernardo showed up on a public holiday and still walked away with this..., Your value starts with you. Not your pitch, not your portfolio. The way you think. Most founders get this wrong. They keep promoting their service, refining their offer, waiting until everything is perfect. But the real asset has been there all along, your brain. The way you think, the problems only you can solve, the clarity you give people just by being in the room. Yes! That's what wins trust. That's what converts. If you're a founder in Luxembourg or a neighboring country who knows you have something valuable... But can't quite figure out how to make people see it, you don't need a bigger team or a better pitch. You just need the right conversation. Thirteen years ago, I heard my first TED talk. While I don’t remember what talk I first listened to, I remember being inspired by the idea of an organization whose mission was to discover and spread ideas that spark conversation, deepen understanding, and drive meaningful change. Over the years, I’ve listened to more TED and TEDx talks than I can count. Some of the talks had a profound impact on the way that I think, lead and engage with the world. Perhaps the most important impact was that it sparked an idea in me… What would it be like to stand on that red dot and give my own talk? I even put it on the vision board I made back in 2021 when I started my executive advisory and coaching business. I won’t have to wonder about it much longer because I’m speaking at TEDxABQ 2026! Ideas can be powerful. They can bring hope. And, in line with this year’s theme, they can REFRAME how we think about health, identity, justice, science, creativity, and what it means to be human.
