Our team's new paper shows that patients experiencing homelessness are much more likely to have delayed discharges from hospital. When people don't have a safe place to recuperate after hospitalization, it's bad for patients and bad for our health care system. It's yet another consequence of homelessness that most people don't see.
Hospitalized patients with a recent experience of homelessness had delayed discharge rates over four times those of matched low-income peers, with longer ALC stays. https://ja.ma/3TDZMD2
