THE SILENT KILLER: **Why High Blood Pressure Deserves Your Attention "What you don't feel can still harm you." High blood pressure is often called the silent killer because many people have it for years without experiencing any symptoms. Yet during that time, it may quietly damage the heart, brain, kidneys, and eyes. As a medical doctor, I've seen patients who only discovered they had hypertension after developing complications such as a stroke, heart failure, or kidney disease. Many of these outcomes could have been prevented through routine screening and early treatment. Here are five simple ways to reduce your risk: ✔ Check your blood pressure regularly—even if you feel well. ✔ Reduce your salt intake. ✔ Stay physically active for at least 150 minutes each week. ✔ Maintain a healthy body weight. ✔ Take prescribed medications consistently if you've been diagnosed. *Remember, prevention is always more effective than treating complications. **Have you checked your blood pressure within the last six months? **Share your thoughts in the comments, and let's encourage one another to prioritise preventive healthcare. #Hypertension #PreventiveMedicine #PrimaryCare #PublicHealth #HeartHealth #Healthcare #MedicalDoctor #Nigeria #LinkedInDoctors

New research from the University of Alberta suggests vaping may be linked to early signs of lung disease in young adults, reinforcing the importance of understanding respiratory health before symptoms become more serious. “The e-cigarette users had normal lung function with standard clinical tests, but they got out of breath at a much lower exercise intensity than the controls,” said principal investigator Mike Stickland. “Twenty-three-year-olds should not be out of breath at an exercise intensity equivalent to a moderate walk.” As vaping continues to rise, understanding its impact on pulmonary function has never been more important. 👉 Read more: https://hubs.ly/Q04pTRxM0 #RespiratoryHealth #LungHealth #respiratorydiagnostics

The American Heart Association reported that drinking up to five 8-ounce cups of coffee per day (approximately 400 milligrams of caffeine) is safe for most people and has been linked to a lower risk of heart disease, heart failure, stroke, and type 2 diabetes, according to the Wall Street Journal. The link between caffeine and heart health is not fully understood, but caffeine’s diuretic effect can lower blood pressure and block a substance that can cause atrial fibrillation, an arrhythmia that can lead to strokes.
