🎬 Every trip starts with a traveler, but not every traveler is the same.
Understanding who is traveling, why they're booking, how long they're staying, and where they're coming from can help travel businesses make better decisions and deliver more relevant experiences.
In the latest episode of our Data in Action series, Katie Moro, Vice President, Data Partnerships, Hospitality at Amadeus, explores how passenger segment data helps turn traveler insights into action. From business and leisure travel patterns to group size, length of stay and source markets, these insights give travel organizations a clearer picture of demand and the people behind it.
Powered by Amadeus Travel Intelligence, passenger segment data helps the travel industry move beyond assumptions and respond with greater precision to evolving traveler needs.

As we are all aware, as time changes,
personalization has become key
in really every aspect of life. And in travel it's no different. There's so much opportunity
to be able to target the right customer
at the right time with the right offer, but that definitely requires data
to be able to make the best decisions. And so when we look at data today
from the Amadeus arrivals and stay of international air travel,
as well as Demand360 from July to August of the summer,
we'll be able to see what opportunities exist for hotels and destinations
to be able to drive that forward. Some of Europe's most sought after
destinations are being driven by leisure travel, so passenger volume increased 63% in Slovakia and 26% in Albania. Really new destinations
from a growth perspective. Leisure travelers
account for 99.7% of passengers in Albania, and nearly 99% of visitors
in Slovakia. Top origin markets for Albania
this summer. Are the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany. These three markets account
for 47% of inbound bookings. What does this tell
hotels and destinations? It tells them that there is a strong preference
for Europeans to stay closer to home. If I stick to Slovakia
and talk about the European travelers, I want to focus specifically on Poland,
where the bookings from Poland to Slovakia are up 221% year on year. So this is a great opportunity again
for those hotels and the destination to look at Polish travelers. How do you tailor
the right message to them to be able to have them
come into your specific property? So another valuable insight about Slovakia is that the length of stay is shrinking. So year on year, the trips of five days or less have increased by 90%. So what that means is
the hotels need to think about how do you offer value in a short
period of time and for the destination? How do you provide opportunities
to do your biggest attractions? We eat at the best restaurants
So I would say when I look at the Poland
to Slovakia example, I think about it in two different ways
from an advertising perspective. First
would be accept the short length of stay. And what do you do to be able to capture
that gas for that short length of stay? Well, you can offer curated experiences. If you're a hotel, you could look at
how do you drive additional revenues through ancillary Or you can think about how do you incentivize
a longer length of stay. So I do think that
there's kind of two ways to look at it. But with the data you can analyze
again, work together and make sure that you're making the best decision
for your destination and for your hotel.
Excellent insights. Understanding traveler segments is fundamental to delivering more personalized travel experiences.
Building on that, PECS (Passenger Experience Cabin Segmentation) extends personalization into the onboard experience by matching different cabin environments with different passenger preferences.
Together, these approaches can help airlines deliver more relevant and passenger-centric journeys. Great discussion.
The top of the loyalty ladder was never the only destination.
Matt Paladino makes the case for a more adaptive approach to travel loyalty: read a traveler’s context and history, then design experiences that feel personal at whatever tier they’re booking.

Finally coming up for air after a whirlwind June 😅, and one experience that’s still sticking with me is last month’s PRSA Travel & Tourism Section Conference in Albuquerque.
Getting to experience the conference alongside the travel PR team at The Abbi Agency was incredible, but what made it especially meaningful was welcoming so many colleagues, journalists, and industry friends back to a place I was lucky enough to call home for nearly 10 years.
A few favorite moments:
✨ Watching Nicole Barker and Dani Hannah take the stage to share how New Mexico Tourism Department is thinking differently about brand partnerships - including the Route 66 Chex Mix BOLD collaboration.
🥂 Hosting a happy hour at Sawmill Market with teammates and industry friends Abbi WhitakerTaylor Stewart Eliana Gorov Adam Biederwolf, MBA
🎈 Reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones at a media mixer that was so ABQ - with lowriders, hot air balloons, and lots of chile!
The best part of conferences like this is coming home with new ideas. Between the insightful sessions and conversations, our team walked away with plenty of inspiration. We rounded up a few of the trends and takeaways that stuck with us on the blog if you’d like to check them out: https://lnkd.in/eWr22Vns ✈️
The travel industry is changing fast. New platforms. New tools. New ways to reach travelers. But here's the plot twist: the best stories still come down to the same fundamentals.
After attending the PRSA Travel & Tourism Conference, we came back with fresh perspectives on everything from building trust in the age of AI to creating partnerships that feel culturally relevant (instead of just checking a marketing box).
Consider this your cheat sheet. 👀

Summer travel isn’t slowing down. It’s becoming more selective.
Travelers are still booking, but they’re taking longer to commit, favoring different destinations, and responding to events like the World Cup in ways that traditional booking data alone can’t fully capture.
That’s why understanding real-time traveler intent matters. Knowing where demand is building and where it’s cooling helps travel marketers make smarter decisions while there’s still time to influence bookings.
