Today I had the opportunity to discuss the Build Submarines mission with an engaged group of NJ educators, manufacturers, stakeholders, and government representatives at an advanced manufacturing event hosted by Hunterdon County Vocational School District at their new Polytech Training Center. We were joined by valuable partners including Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM), US Navy Talent Pipeline Program, and Haas Factory Outlet, A Div. of Allendale Machinery Systems The message: - now, more than ever, America's submarine and shipbuilding mission is at the forefront - in policy decisions, in the news, and on the national stage - the Department of War is adapting to meet these challenges, and Submarine acquisition and construction are being prioritized like never before - Skilled trades training centers, like Hunterdon, are at the epicenter of the solution to the "1+2" mission - New Jersey's role in the submarine and maritime supply chains can't be understated. Companies are hiring for skilled trades with career sustaining wages throughout the state, and Hunterdon's graduates will move the needle!

Strengthening the U.S. defense industrial base ultimately comes down to people, skills, and modern manufacturing capability. Serving Those Who Served! We are excited to announce we are joining forces with U.S.VETS Phoenix, launching joint carpentry and electrical cohorts at the BuildStrong Academy Phoenix! The first carpentry cohort starts this coming Monday March 9th and electrical starts March 16th. With our missions so well aligned, this is a necessary and timely opportunity for HBI and U.S.VETS to partner in providing tuition-free trades training and job placement assistance to Phoenix's veteran population. U.S.VETS Phoenix provides housing and supportive services to help veterans in need regain a sense of purpose and dignity, including mental health and wellness programs, employment assistance and ongoing supportive services. Since 2018, HBI's Military Services program has graduated over 5,300 individuals in skilled trades across 10 Military installations, providing construction career placement and volunteer opportunities to them, ensuring our nation's finest have a viable career option as they transition into civilian life.
