Texas I-69 has been identified by the United States Department of War as one of the first Intelligent Infrastructure Economic Zones, supporting the Backbone of America’s Reindustrialization. Autonomy Institute, Intelligent Infrastructure Commerce & Defense Act https://lnkd.in/gVDSKe_q
Texas just landed one of the biggest economic development projects in its modern history. 🚢 Saronic Technologies announced today that its next-generation shipyard, Port Alpha will be built in Brownsville, Texas. The numbers are staggering: → $3+ billion planned investment → Up to 10,000 direct jobs → $160B+ in projected economic impact for Cameron County → $264.5B for the State of Texas But the bigger story is what they're building: a shipyard designed from the ground up for software-defined shipbuilding and autonomous maritime systems. This isn't retrofitting the old model of American shipbuilding — it's replacing it. At Capital Factory, we're proud to back Saronic, and days like today are exactly why. When you support founders solving hard problems for national security, the upside isn't just returns. It's 10,000 jobs in the Rio Grande Valley. It's American shipbuilding reborn on Texas soil. From Austin to Brownsville, Texas keeps proving it's where ambitious builders come to do the hard things. Congratulations to Dino Mavrookas and the entire Saronic team — we can't wait to watch Port Alpha rise. 🤠 Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eDNNw7i9 #Texas #DefenseTech #Shipbuilding #Saronic #AmericanDynamism

A $3 billion investment in a new Texas shipyard is betting that the future of shipbuilding will be shaped as much by software as steel. Saronic Technologies has selected Brownsville, Texas, as the site for Port Alpha – a next-generation shipyard designed around software-driven production, advanced manufacturing and autonomous maritime systems. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with the facility opening in 2028. Dino Mavrookas, Co-Founder and CEO of Saronic, says the project is about rebuilding US industrial capacity, with the shipyard expected to create up to 10,000 direct jobs and generate an estimated $264.5 billion in economic impact across Texas. Beyond the scale of the investment, Port Alpha reflects a broader shift towards embedding digital technologies into the shipbuilding process itself, with the potential to accelerate production and support the next generation of autonomous vessels. In shipbuilding, everything starts with the small things. A surface. A line. A joint. A finishing decision that only someone who knows what they're looking at will even notice. Up close - it's one detail. From a distance - an entire project. And both matter equally. It might be a superyacht where every millimetre is visible, it might be a cruise ship where specialists from different teams all have to come together. Projects like these require people who can hold the detail in their hands and still see the whole picture at the same time. That's what Marino Projects specialists do every day. Not because it's written in a manual somewhere, but because this is the work they've been doing for years, and they simply don't know how to do it any other way. The result shows. And that's what matters most to us.

46.2kts is only a part of the story! At Musca Marine Design, ( www.muscamarinedesign.com ) we believe exceptional vessel performance is achieved by engineering the interaction between the hull, hydrofoil system, appendages, propulsion system and vessel dynamics as one integrated solution. Phoebe, a Voodoo Yachts XF60 equipped with twin MAN 1300 HP engines, ZF gearboxes and a conventional shaft-drive propulsion system, showcases this philosophy in action. The result is not simply a 46 knot Foil assisted catamaran, but a vessel designed to deliver efficient performance across its entire operating envelope, from high-speed to offshore passages operation. In every project, whether we're developing a new vessel or retrofitting a hydrofoil system to an existing one, we apply this same engineering philosophy. Our goal is never just to design a foil, but to carefully manage its dynamic and interaction with the entire vessel for optimal performance. Congratulations to the entire Voodoo Yachts team for delivering another outstanding high-performance vessel. It’s been a privilege to contribute to its hydrodynamic success.” To those who appreciate adventure and want to truly understand what these vessels can do, I recommend reading more about Phoebe’s passage here. https://lnkd.in/gzhshJ4j

Simon Whistler at War Fronts put out a fascinating piece over a year ago about what Saronic Technologies new “Port Alpha” concept would look like. Just this week, Saronic announced it will be building a shipyard on an 835-acre site in Cameron County in the Port of Brownsville, TX. We now will soon see how close Saronic is able to deliver on revolutionizing shipbuilding.
