We were so thrilled to attend the Insider Media South Yorkshire Property Dinner last night and to come away as winners of the Outstanding Development of the Year, sponsored by BRM. Our CEO, Mandy Carlson, and Head of HR and Operations, Rebecca Clarke, were delighted to receive the award from Claire Mayfield-Tulip of BRM This follows on fast from the Commendation for best project that we received at the Royal Town Planning Institute Yorkshire Awards for Planning Excellence, just last week. Base71 Youth Zone purpose-built building gives up to 200 young people a day, from Barnsley, access to amazing sports, creative arts, life skills and employability activities, seven days a week. Our building’s design responded to a number of challenges arising from the site’s location, shape, level changes and ground contamination. Following the build, a 300 per cent increase in site biodiversity was also achieved. Our building is bright and bold, and it is matched by our ambition to create a step change in the futures of our members who grow in confidence, self-esteem and skills every time they visit Base71 Youth Zone. So many people made this award possible.
