🚀 BREAKING: Moa Technology Raises €25.9 Million to Combat Herbicide Resistance 🌿 Oxford-based Moa Technology has successfully secured a €25.9 million (£22.2 million) Series C funding round, signalling a significant leap forward in the agricultural BioTech sector. Co-led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Supernova Invest, this round also attracted new investors such as Agri Investment Fund and GrainInnovate. The funds will propel Moa’s groundbreaking efforts to tackle weed resistance, a pressing issue in global agriculture. Founded in 2017 by Professor Liam Dolan and Dr. Clément Champion, Moa is revolutionising the discovery of synthetic and biological herbicides using AI and machine learning. With over 80 novel modes of action discovered, Moa's innovative platforms are set to transform the industry by offering more effective solutions at an unprecedented scale and speed. This funding will accelerate the commercialisation of their most advanced programmes and expand their Moa Amplifiers initiative, promising to reduce herbicide use. The imbalance between producers and service providers/startups in US aquaculture is getting really, really bad. I'm not sure if this trend tracks in other places around the world, would love to hear someone's thoughts on it. For me, technology and services are best deployed in aquaculture to make an existing process more efficient in some way. As a producer, I'm never going to gamble on something entirely unproven. It has to be a better/more efficient version of something I'm already doing. I actually feel sort of bad for the technology startups because I don't think they understand what they're really getting into. In the US aquaculture space at least, if there isn't a functional industry, supply chain, production process, etc. to optimize in some way, there is nothing to sell. And in case you haven't been keeping up with current events, where are the producers in the US? Where are the supply chains? Where is there a functional process for these 'tech startups' to improve?
