London Ambulance Service NHS Trust has reported its busiest day since the Covid-19 pandemic after a sharp rise in emergency calls during the recent heatwave. 🌡️ LAS received 8,121 emergency calls on 26 May, up 38% on the previous week 🚑 The service described it as its sixth busiest day ever ❤️ Crews saw increased incidents involving breathing difficulties, dizziness, chest pain and heart problems 📞 LAS has activated REAP 4 measures, including extra clinicians in control rooms and greater use of community response vehicles The service is urging the public to use 999 only for life-threatening emergencies and check in on vulnerable people during the hot weather. REGIONAL BOOST: Border communities are now benefiting from enhanced frontline emergency care, with the opening of Moama Ambulance Station and 13 additional paramedics commencing work in the community earlier this month.   The purpose-built facility will make a significant contribution to response times and support the growing needs of residents across the Murray River region.   The new 13 paramedics based at the new Moama station join the additional 35 paramedics already working across the Murrumbidgee zone as part of the Regional 500 initiative.   “With Moama Ambulance Station operational and 13 additional paramedics commencing, NSW Ambulance’s position is even further strengthened to respond to emergencies across the region,” Interim Chief Executive Clare Beech said.  As an identified high-priority location, the additional paramedics and resources will enhance clinical capabilities and confirm our ongoing commitment to provide a world-class emergency healthcare service. #NSWAmbulance
