Since 2014, the City of St. Albert has contributed local geographic data to the Esri Canada Community Map of Canada, helping support maps used by residents, emergency services and businesses right in your own backyard and beyond! We’ve provided data on everything from parks and pathways to streets and sidewalks.
This video features Dana McKee, GIS Consultant with the Community Map of Canada team. She highlights the City of St. Albert, a key contributor to the Community Map of Canada program. The city provides current and accurate data, including a new tree dataset, which has helped improve the basemap. St. Albert recently collaborated on a Truth and Reconciliation initiative, renaming Grandin to Gardens and ensuring the change was quickly reflected. The city also uses the Community Map of Canada basemap in various web applications, supporting local projects and community engagement.
