Over the past few years, we’ve seen remarkable advancements in dental technology from digital radiography and CBCT imaging to intraoral scanners and AI-assisted diagnostic tools. These innovations have transformed the way we diagnose dental conditions. They provide clearer images, improve accuracy, enhance treatment planning, and help us communicate findings more effectively with patients. However, one thing hasn’t changed. Technology is only as powerful as the clinician using it. A CBCT scan cannot replace a thorough clinical examination. AI can identify patterns, but it cannot understand a patient’s symptoms, concerns, or medical history the way an experienced dental professional can. As a dental professional I’ve learned that the best outcomes come from combining advanced technology with critical thinking, clinical experience, and teamwork. The future of dentistry isn’t about choosing between technology and human expertise it’s about integrating both to deliver safer, more accurate, and more personalized patient care.
