This is on point. We need more youth to consider careers in farming and protect the future of our food supply. Teenagers need to be exposed to who farmers really are, and be given a chance to consider farming. I was just speaking with a colleague that works for a youth program about organizing some farm tours for Grade 11 & 12 students to give them exposure to that world.
Love this series, reframing who a farmer is matters as much as the farming itself. I'm doing research on how indigenous crops fit (or don't) into national nutrition policy in Nigeria, and it's striking how often the women growing and preserving these crops are the least visible in the policy conversation. Would love to see a spotlight on that angle too.
