Connecting Korean green solutions with global green growth opportunities
As part of the World Green Growth Forum (WGGF) 2026 in Pohang, we convened the GGGI × Pohang Corporate Workshop with Pohang City on 9th July, bringing together Pohang companies and GGGI experts to explore pathways for international collaboration on green growth and climate action.
The workshop provided a platform to showcase how we support partner countries in advancing sustainable development through climate investments, clean technologies, sustainable energy, and carbon markets.
In this workshop, Dereje Senshaw, PhD., Deputy Director of our Center for Thought Leadership and Innovation, set the scene and presented our CIP-Readiness initiative, funded by the Korea Green New Deal Trust Fund (KGNDTF). The initiative supports selected member states in developing early-stage climate investment project concepts and strengthening their readiness to mobilize climate finance.
Moving to small-group consultation sessions, Pohang companies shared:
Their technologies, solutions, and areas of expertise;
Experiences in domestic and international markets;
Interests in international cooperation and expansion opportunities; and
Challenges and considerations for engaging in overseas projects.
The workshop served as a platform for an honest dialogue between us and the private sector to explore how Pohang companies’ green innovations can inform early-stage project development and green growth across member states.
We look forward to continuing these conversations and building partnerships that connect innovative Korean green solutions with sustainable development needs around the world.
