Some of California's largest HVAC contractors have been sending every job to iPermit for years. A few for decades. That's not habit. That's what happens when the permit comes back right, the HERS test gets certified on time, and someone picks up the phone when there's a problem. Permits. HERS testing. Final inspections. One vendor. Same team every time. 1,000,000+ permits pulled. 250,000+ HERS/ECC tests completed. If you're still managing this from three different vendors — or one overloaded office clerk — there's a better way. @ServiceTitan contractors: iPermit connects directly to your job record — permit and HERS tracking in one workflow. HVAC service teams do not usually struggle because technicians forget what to inspect. They struggle because the inspection record gets split across paper checklists, truck folders, customer signatures, office re-entry, and photos sitting on someone's phone. A preventive maintenance visit may be complete, but the record still has to make it back to the office. A repair recommendation may be clear in the field, but hard to act on if the photo, reading, note, and customer approval are not together. Digital HVAC inspection checklists keep equipment details, readings, photos, corrective actions, customer sign-offs, and technician notes attached to one record from the start. FormaFlow helps service teams build mobile forms for preventive maintenance, seasonal tune-ups, rooftop unit inspections, filter changes, service call completion, safety checks, and customer approvals — no code required. Technicians capture the record once. The office sees it immediately. Managers can search by customer, site, asset, date, or issue. Paper checklists document the visit eventually. Digital forms make the record useful the moment the work is done. Read the full post: https://lnkd.in/gDpWrbVN 👉 formaflow.io

The biggest problem most owner-led HVAC shops have isn't engineering. It's the inbox. Enquiries come in by phone while the owner is on installs. He gets back to them in the evening, sometimes the next day. By then, a few have already booked whoever picked up first. I keep seeing this pattern across owner-led trades — in the UK, in Singapore, anywhere a small team is doing everything themselves. The install hours and the admin hours fight for the same calendar. Hiring more technicians doesn't fix it. Adding office hours doesn't fix it. What fixes it is having something that picks up when the owner can't — qualifies the enquiry, books the slot, and lets him stay on tools. When you're the engineer, the dispatcher, AND the receptionist — something has to come off the plate. #FieldService #HVAC #FieldServiceManagement #FieldCamp

🌙 When the Building Sleeps, Maintenance Doesn't. Most people see a building operating smoothly during the day. What they don't see is what happens after hours. The night shift is often when critical maintenance activities take place: ✔️ Equipment shutdowns ✔️ Preventive maintenance ✔️ System testing ✔️ Major repairs ✔️ Water tank inspections ✔️ HVAC servicing Why at night? Because that's when we can work with minimal disruption to occupants and operations. While most people are resting, maintenance teams are ensuring that everything is ready for the next day. The success of a building isn't measured only by what happens during the day. It's also built by the work done when nobody is watching. 🌙 "The best maintenance is often invisible." Respect to every technician, operator, and engineer working through the night to keep facilities running safely and efficiently. #FacilityManagement #NightShift #Engineering #MaintenanceLife #MEP #Operations #DubaiFM #BehindTheScenes

There are not enough HVAC technicians in this country. The average age of a licensed HVAC tech is rising every year. Trade school enrollment has not kept pace with the technicians retiring. Every contractor we talk to says the same thing — finding good people is harder than finding good leads. So here is the question that matters. If you cannot hire your way out of capacity problems, what can you actually control? You can control how much of your existing crew's time gets wasted on calls that should have never reached them in the first place. A tech who gets pulled off a job to answer a phone call about a $19 furnace filter question is not doing the $400/hour work he was trained for. A dispatcher juggling 5 ringing lines while trying to qualify which ones are real emergencies is not doing her best work either. MAX removes that friction entirely. Every call gets answered immediately. Every lead gets qualified before it reaches a human. Real emergencies get triaged and routed instantly. Routine questions get handled without pulling a single person off productive work. You do not need more bodies. You need your current team focused entirely on the work only they can do. 🔧 See how MAX multiplies your existing team at https://lnkd.in/gRTEdejd — or tell us in the comments what your biggest staffing challenge looks like right now. #HVACBusiness #SkilledTrades #LaborShortage #HomeServices #AIAutomation #SkillSourceSolutions #DoneForYou #ContractorLife #HVACTech #BusinessGrowth

Thursday Thoughts 2.0 – Maintenance Edition 🔧 Today, Maintenance Supply Solutions (MSS) had the privilege of hosting more than 50 Lead Maintenance Technicians and Regional Facilities Directors for R-32 training. And wow… what a reminder of the responsibility these professionals carry every single day. I’ve managed apartment communities. I’ve worked alongside maintenance teams. I’ve sold to hundreds of maintenance professionals over the years. Yet sitting in today’s training gave me a completely different perspective. Every time a maintenance technician replaces an HVAC system, they’re not just swapping out equipment. They’re accepting responsibility. Responsibility for the families sleeping in those homes. Responsibility for the residents who trust the work was done correctly. Responsibility for the safety of everyone who walks through that door. One missed step. One overlooked detail. One shortcut. The consequences can be far greater than a work order. As I listened to the training today, I couldn’t help but think about how much we ask of our maintenance teams. On any given day they may be an HVAC technician, electrician, plumber, carpenter, appliance repair specialist, customer service representative, counselor, problem solver, and crisis manager—all before lunch. And somehow, they continue to show up. When the AC goes out. When the water heater floods. When a resident is upset. When an emergency happens after hours. They show up. The truth is, I don’t think we give maintenance professionals enough credit. They carry an enormous amount of responsibility that most people never see. The residents may never know their name. They may never understand the complexity of what they do. They may never realize how many potential problems were prevented because someone cared enough to do the job right. But they benefit from it every single day. So my Thursday Thought this week is simple: Maintenance professionals don’t just maintain buildings. They protect the people who live inside them. And that’s a responsibility worthy of our respect, appreciation, and recognition. To every maintenance professional reading this—thank you for carrying the weight that so many never see. You are not just fixing things. You are protecting homes, families, communities, and lives. And that’s a pretty big deal. 💙 #ThursdayThoughts #MaintenanceEdition #MaintenanceMatters #PropertyManagement #FacilitiesManagement #HVAC #Leadership #PeopleFirst #MSSolutions #BeIntentional 🔧🏠💙

Most procurement systems see the part price. They don't see the drive time, the labor rate, or the job sitting idle. This is exactly why we built Raiven Best Value AI™ the way we did, and why cheapest is rarely the right answer in field service.
General Manager | Senior Vice President | Business Development | Partner Channels | Global Sales | EV | Energy | Startups | Exits | Field Service | Product Commercialization | Exponential Market Growth | New Logo Wins
Why 'Cheapest Part' Is the Wrong Optimization Target in Field Service Procurement. In field service procurement, most systems are optimizing for the wrong target. Consider a residential HVAC technician needing a part: - Option A costs $45 from a supplier 14 miles away. - Option B costs $50 from a supplier 4 miles away. Standard purchasing systems typically select Option A. However, at $145 per billable hour, the drive time difference between these suppliers can exceed the cost of the part. This doesn't even account for delays to the customer, impacts on the technician's schedule, or the possibility that the technician already has the part in their van. In this case, choosing the cheapest option is not only incorrect but can also be significantly more costly for the business. This issue occurs numerous times daily across contractor portfolios. Each time a system selects the cheapest option instead of the optimal one, it incurs a real cost that often goes unmeasured. Raiven's Best Value AI™ offers a solution with the only issued patent for automated procurement in the building trades. It assesses material requests based on urgency, proximity to the job site, technician hourly rate, and delivery variables for every order. This approach ensures the optimal sourcing decision for each specific request. The precision of this method leads to measurable cost reductions from the first week, not through renegotiated contracts, but by making the right choice on every individual order, every day. #PrivateEquity #HVAC #FieldService #ProcurementStrategy #BestValueAI #ContractorRollUp
