📊 Economic conditions continue to shift — and staying informed matters. I recently reviewed Dr. Marci Rossell’s latest Top Five Economic Insights for the Month, and her message is clear: today’s economy is not moving in one direction for everyone. Instead, we are seeing what she calls a “selective squeeze,” where inflation, energy costs, housing affordability, AI, and global oil prices are impacting industries, households, and markets differently. A few key takeaways: 📈 Inflation remains a concern. Rising energy and oil prices are continuing to put pressure on consumers and businesses, especially those already managing tighter budgets. 🏡 Housing affordability is still being challenged. Higher construction costs, material expenses, and limited supply continue to keep pricing elevated, while buyer activity varies depending on financial position and market segment. 🤖 AI is reshaping productivity and business operations. While there are concerns around rapid AI growth, Dr. Rossell notes that AI is driving real productivity gains and changing how companies think about staffing, efficiency, trust, and customer relationships. ⛽ Global oil prices remain a major economic factor. Energy costs continue to influence everything from manufacturing and transportation to consumer spending and global stability.
