Tomorrow, my brother Dr Chris Ball stands on the start line of Ironman 70.3 Bolton. I still can’t quite believe I’m writing that. He’s gone from having no triathlon experience to taking on a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and half marathon, all in one day, in support of Rosemere Cancer Foundation. More importantly, he’s doing it because our mum is on her own cancer journey, and because Rosemere does such important work for patients and families across Lancashire. I’m enormously proud of him. The hard work, sacrifice and physical challenge are all Chris’s. I don’t want to take anything away from that. But I’ve promised him privately that I’ll match whatever he raises, and I’m sharing that now in the hope it gives one final push to anyone who might be considering donating. Please support him if you can. Chris, you’ve already done something amazing. Tomorrow is just the victory lap, albeit a fairly brutal one. https://lnkd.in/eea_2HXX
That’s it. Training finished, two days to go. This week has been mostly about troughing down as many carbs as I can in anticipation of race day. I’ve gone from complete newbie to standing on the start line of an Ironman 70.3 event. No triathlon experience prior to Sunday. But I’m confident in my training block, and my ability to suffer like a dog. Im absolutely blown away by the support and donations we’ve received in recent weeks, the goal posts have kept moving to reflect the generosity of those who’ve seen my posts, resonated with the story. We’ve surpassed more than we could’ve ever hoped for. There’s still time and opportunity to make a donation. We’re raising funds for Rosemere Cancer Foundation who help many cancer patients and their families. If you can donate a little, or a lot- here’s the link— https://lnkd.in/eDquRhpf
Cheers bro! ❤️
From all the team at PharmAppy, best of luck Dr Chris Ball! You’ve got this.
