Have you ever known this? Charles Babbage designed the Analytical Engine, beginning the work in the mid‑19th century and continuing until his death in 1871. The Analytical Engine is widely regarded as the first conceptual design of a general‑purpose computer, featuring a mill (CPU), store (memory), punched‑card input, and automated output. However, the machine was never fully built, but portions and trial models survive in the Science Museum in London.
