REM620 Relay Testing The ABB REM620 is a dedicated motor protection and control relay widely used for protection of LV and MV motors in industrial and utility applications. Proper testing of the REM620 relay is essential to ensure reliable motor protection, correct tripping, and safe operation of the electrical system. Relay testing of REM620 generally includes secondary injection testing, functional checks, and communication verification. During secondary injection testing, current and voltage signals are injected to verify protection functions such as overcurrent (50/51), thermal overload (49), earth fault (50N/51N), phase imbalance, stall protection, and locked rotor protection. Test results are compared with relay settings to confirm accuracy and response time. Functional testing is performed to check trip circuits, alarm outputs, LED indications, and HMI display. This ensures that the relay correctly issues trip commands to the circuit breaker or contactor under fault conditions. Interlocks, start/stop logic, and motor control functions are also verified as per the scheme. Configuration and communication testing are done using ABB PCM600 software, where settings, logic, event records, and disturbance records are reviewed. Time synchronization and communication via protocols like Modbus or IEC 61850 are also checked #Er_Jai_Chand_Kumar
