Many hospitals think radiation dose monitoring requires an expensive commercial solution. It doesn’t. One of the best open source concepts is OpenREM + Grafana. The idea is simple. * imaging devices automatically send dose information after each examination * OpenREM collects and analyzes the dose data * the information is stored in a database * Grafana transforms it into easy dashboards and sends alerts when predefined thresholds are exceeded This allows healthcare organizations to monitor * patient radiation dose * dose trends over time * protocol optimization * modality performance * compliance with Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRLs) The real value is not collecting dose data.
