This Women’s Health Month, our Chief Medical Officer Melynda Barnes, MD is speaking out about the role that GLP-1 medications can play in women’s health.
Expanding access to and addressing the stigma associated with these medications isn’t just about weight loss—it’s about helping women live longer, more fulfilled lives.
Behind every statistic is a woman who had to repeat her story more than once.
When we believe women the first time, we shorten their suffering.
Listening is not just empathy, it is evidence-based care. The most powerful diagnostic tool in medicine is still listening.
When women are believed, diagnoses come earlier, treatment starts sooner, and outcomes improve. Clinical results shift when clinicians move from suspicion to listening.
Evidence-based care must include patient narratives especially in women’s health, where delayed diagnosis remains common.
Believing women isn’t bias, it’s good medicine.

May 10-16 is National Women's Health Week: Many women may feel that doctors and other health care providers don’t listen to or take them seriously. This can mean that women sometimes don’t get diagnosed, especially for a little-known disorder like dystonia. The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation maintains a "Find a Doctor" directory of physicians and healthcare providers with experience in treating people with dystonia, which is important to arriving at an accurate diagnosis.

Women’s Health Week is a time to reflect on gaps in care—and opportunities to improve them.
Migraine disproportionately affects women, yet it often goes undiagnosed. A new position statement reinforces the importance of routine migraine screening as part of women’s preventive healthcare.
Learn more about why proactive screening matters and how it may help support earlier diagnosis and care discussions.

Three silent drop-off points in every women's health practice.
1. Right after the first visit — when relief wears off and life rushes back in.
2. When symptoms wobble — when she needs reassurance more than a new protocol.
3. When she's "too embarrassed" to come back — when time has passed and she's not sure she's still welcome.
You don't need a funnel.
You need a designed way to hold these three moments — with language, sequencing, and a re-entry path that doesn't require her to start over.
Which of these three feels sharpest in your practice right now?
The full Gap Report walks each window with a self-audit you can run on your own practice. Link in the comments.

A risk that has been accepted for too long doesn't have to remain part of everyday surgical practice.
As CONMED Corporation's UK partner, Lawmed supports initiatives that help healthcare teams reduce exposure to surgical smoke and improve safety standards across UK operating theatres.
Thank you to Dr Jasenka Kraljević for highlighting this important topic.
Awareness is the first step towards creating safer surgical environments. We encourage healthcare professionals to watch the full episode and join the conversation.

The impact of medical misogyny extends far beyond individual experiences of dismissal. It has shaped research priorities, diagnostic frameworks, and clinical decision-making in ways that continue to leave women underserved across nearly every stage of care. From delayed diagnoses to overlooked symptoms, the consequences are systemic, reinforcing the urgent need to confront the biases embedded within healthcare itself.
Womb WatchAI® is leveraging AI to help close these gaps by enabling women to better understand their bodies, recognise symptom patterns earlier, and advocate for themselves with greater confidence. By translating complex health information into clearer, more actionable insights, we are building tools that support earlier intervention, reduce diagnostic delays, and help transform women’s health outcomes through more informed and equitable care.
Start with the AI Healthcare War Room: 100 Tactical Approaches to Combat Healthcare Bias, now available on Amazon, and our AI-powered women’s health app, Rhythm by Womb WatchAI® launching this May.
