😎 If you’re reading this, you’re already part of the change (even if you didn’t choose it) 🧠 Let me be direct — because this is probably happening to you too: You see layoffs in your company or on LinkedIn every week Roles that once felt “safe” are starting to disappear New roles are emerging… but they require skills you don’t (yet) have And it feels like the market is moving faster than you are. This is not perception. This is reality. 📊 Here’s what the data is telling us: Over 60% of roles in EMEA have changed their requirements in the last 3 years Jobs related to AI, data, and digital transformation have grown the most in the last 6 months Hiring is shifting toward a clear model: + skills > - degrees > - linear experience ⚠️ The biggest paradox in today’s job market: Companies are laying off talent… while saying they can’t find talent. Why? Because it’s not about people. It’s about outdated skill sets. 🔁 The second paradox (and this one is uncomfortable): The longer you stay in your comfort zone… the faster you become irrelevant in the market. 🧠 So what can you actually do about it? Start moving with intention: 1. 📍 Do a real skill check (not an emotional one) Ask yourself: Which of my skills will still be relevant in 3 years? Which ones are already becoming obsolete? Tool: Review job descriptions for the role you want — not the one you have. 2. 🚀 Learn in short cycles (don’t wait to “feel ready”) AI, data, business thinking, leadership Microlearning + immediate application Framework: 70-20-10 3. 📊 Measure your growth like a business What new skills did you build this quarter? Where did you apply them? What impact did you create? 👉 If you can’t measure it → you’re probably not applying it. 4. 🌍 Choose where you work wisely Not every company prepares you for the future. Look for ecosystems that invest in: #TalentDevelopment #Data #RealTransformation (not just talk) Let’s be honest: Like it or not, this is happening. The sooner you accept it, the sooner you can do something about it. Because one thing is becoming very clear: 👉 It’s not about who knows more 👉 It’s about who learns faster 🎯 And here’s the uncomfortable truth: If you choose a role just because it’s comfortable… That same role will likely: *Not push you to grow *Not prepare you for what’s coming *And may disappear sooner than you think And then you’ll be back in the market… stuck in the same loop. Most people ask: “Will the market change?” The real question is: Will you react when it’s too late… or will you anticipate it now? If you want to join our ecosystem and understand how you’re truly positioned in today’s market — and what you need to change to land your next opportunity: 👉 Comment “Career Hack” and we’ll send you a step-by-step on how to hack the system and unlock your next move. #FutureOfWork #Upskilling #Reskilling #CareerGrowth #Leadership #TalentStrategy #LinkedInEMEA #ContinuousLearning

Last week I posted about the tech layoffs. I ended with advice even I found unsatisfying. Keep assessing your market value. Learn the AI capabilities showing up in your function. Stay curious. Easier said than done. As I think more on this topic, two ideas keep coming back, and I want to test them out loud. 🔹 The first is career companionship. Most candidates only engage with a job platform when they are under pressure. Post-layoff. Between roles. That is the worst possible time to figure out your market value. What if there was a companion you engaged with continuously, so you knew your market value before the ground moved? As a candidate or a job-seeker would you value that? 🔹 The second is candidate intelligence. A resume is a claim. It says what you did. What if there was a living profile that showed who you actually are as a professional, so recruiters saw evidence, not claims, and you saw your own gaps early enough to close them? Put the two together, and that unsatisfying advice from last week, now has a shape. - You know your value. - You see the gaps early. - You act while you still have leverage. And the best part, prospective employers are already seeing your skills and capabilities on the Talentive marketplace. But I want to hear from you first. If you are a candidate, would a career companion change how you think about your career? If you are a recruiter, would candidate intelligence change how you evaluate talent? #CareerCompanion #CandidateIntelligence #TechLayoffs #FutureOfWork #AITalent

The tech job market has me thinking... Every week, we see headlines about layoffs, hiring freezes, and AI changing the way work gets done. At the same time, companies are investing billions into AI and continuing to hire for the skills they need next. So here's the question: Are we actually seeing fewer opportunities, or are we seeing higher expectations? From what I've experienced, the candidates who stand out today aren't just technically strong. They're adaptable. They communicate well. They understand the business. They're willing to learn new tools, including AI, instead of resisting them. I don't think we're moving into a world where technical expertise matters less. I think we're moving into a world where technical expertise alone isn't enough. As someone who hires and develops IT professionals, I've seen firsthand that the people who continue growing are the ones who embrace change, stay curious, and consistently create value. I'd love to hear your perspective. If you were mentoring someone trying to break into tech today, what's the one skill you'd tell them to focus on over the next 12 months, and why? I'm genuinely curious to hear different perspectives. I have a feeling the discussion will be just as valuable as the answers. This week's job market stories are a wake-up call for anyone looking to land their dream job. From eerie first-day experiences to AI-powered layoffs, it's time to rethink your strategy. 1. A redditor's first day at a new job was a total ghost town, with no onboarding, training, or meetings, leaving them wondering if this is the new norm. This highlights the importance of having a plan B, and being prepared to take initiative. 2. Employees at Meta are suing the company for using AI to target workers with medical conditions for layoffs, sparking concerns about bias in hiring and firing practices. This underscores the need for transparency in job searching. 3. A senior IC at Google advises doubling down on technical skills to thrive in a post-AI industry, as machines can be confidently wrong 10-20% of the time. Focusing on deep technical knowledge can be a key differentiator. 4. A developer who coasted for 3 years at a major tech company is now looking for a new challenge, emphasizing the need for continuous skill-building and career growth. Staying engaged and motivated is crucial. 5. Israel, a job seeker, wonders if his name is hurting his job search, prompting discussions about unconscious bias and the importance of a clear, concise resume. A well-crafted resume can help mitigate potential biases. It's time to get real about what it takes to succeed in today's job market. Every day, I see posts about layoffs and career resilience. The real question isn't just "Why are layoffs happening?" It's "How prepared are we for a rapidly changing job market?" What do you think is the biggest reason behind the recent wave of layoffs? 📉 1. Cost Cutting & Profitability Pressure Companies reduce workforce to lower operational costs and improve margins. 📊 2. Overhiring During Growth Phases Companies hired aggressively during boom periods and later adjusted headcount. 🤖 3. AI & Automation Adoption Many repetitive tasks are being automated, reducing the need for certain roles. 💰 4. Funding Challenges Startups facing reduced investor funding often cut expenses through layoffs. 🌍 5. Economic Uncertainty Inflation, recession fears, and global market fluctuations impact hiring plans. 🔄 6. Business Restructuring Organizations merge teams, close departments, or shift priorities. 🏢 7. Shift to Lean Operations Companies focus on doing more with smaller teams. . #Layoffs #CareerGrowth #CareerResilience #FutureOfWork #AI #Upskilling #LinkedIn #Jobs #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment

The headline this week: US layoffs dropped 53% in June — the lowest month since December. Good news, right? Mostly. But if you're in tech, read the fine print before you exhale. Technology still led every other sector in job cuts last month. And for the fourth month running, "AI" was the top reason companies gave for the cuts they did make. So the picture isn't "the storm passed." It's "the storm is reshaping the shoreline." Here's the honest read: the market isn't collapsing. It's re-sorting. Roles are being restructured around AI — some disappearing, but many more being rewritten to expect it. That distinction matters for how you spend the next six months. Panic says: grab any job, freeze, wait it out. A re-sort says: get fluent in the tools reshaping your field, so when hiring picks up — and the June cooldown suggests it's starting to — you're on the right side of the sort. At AMITA, the American Muslim IT Association, this is exactly the conversation happening in our community every day: not doom-scrolling the layoff trackers, but trading the concrete skills, referrals, and encouragement that turn a scary market into a navigable one. If you're a Muslim technologist reading the headlines and wondering where you fit — you don't have to figure it out alone. Come build with people who've got you. What's one AI skill you're actually investing in this quarter? 👇 #TechCareers #AI #TechJobs #MuslimProfessionals #AMITA

I've been thinking a lot about what it means to build a career in today's job market. Over the past several months, I've experienced layoffs, searched for work, questioned where my career was headed, and heard more than once that businesses don't need to hire a social media manager because "AI can do it." At first, I thought these were just isolated experiences. Now I'm not so sure. It feels like many of us are navigating a job market that's changing faster than we can keep up. Companies are restructuring. Technology is reshaping roles. Entire industries continue to evolve. Even people with strong experience sometimes find themselves searching for stability. Living through it has been uncomfortable. Some days it feels like you're finally finding your footing, only for something to change and send you back to square one. I'm fortunate to have found new opportunities that have helped me keep moving forward, but the experience has changed how I think about career stability. I've stopped looking for certainty and started thinking more about adaptability. I don't know if that's the answer. I'm genuinely curious if others are feeling the same shift. Has today's job market changed the way you think about your career? Whether you're an employee, business owner, freelancer, or hiring manager, I'd love to hear what you've been experiencing. #jobmarket #futureofwork #professionaldevelopment #careergrowth #careers

🚨 Tech layoffs are not just headlines anymore—they're a wake-up call. Thousands of talented engineers have lost their jobs over the past few years. The uncomfortable truth? Most people don't lose their jobs because they're bad. They lose them because the market changes faster than they do. The companies that once hired aggressively are now focusing on: ✅ AI-driven productivity ✅ Leaner teams ✅ Higher performance expectations ✅ Skills over degrees But here's the good news... Your career is still in your hands. Instead of worrying about layoffs, start becoming someone companies can't afford to lose. 💡 Here's how: • Learn AI instead of fearing it. • Master DSA and problem-solving. • Build real-world projects—not just certificates. • Learn System Design and Cloud. • Contribute to Open Source. • Build your LinkedIn and GitHub portfolio. • Network with people, not just companies. • Never stop learning. The future belongs to people who adapt. Remember: Companies hire for today's problems. Great engineers prepare for tomorrow's problems. 💬 What's one skill you're learning in 2026 that you believe will make you future-proof? Let's help each other grow. Share your answer in the comments. 👇 ♻️ Repost this to help someone who may be worried about their future. #AMTech #TechBeyondLimits
