Hexion has joined the European Panel Federation as an Associate Member. Last month in Milan,Erich Gatterer, Michael Malmberg and Thibault Straumann spent three days at the EPF Annual General Meeting talking with the people who actually make Europe's wood-based panels. Honest conversations kept the group focused on challenges mills are dealing with every day: regulation, energy costs, AI on the production line, and where the next competitive advantage will come from. That's exactly why we're excited to be part of EPF. The future of panel production will come from combining chemistry, systems, and AI to give panel producers an unfair advantage on cost, quality, and throughput. Last week, we met with Dr. Michele Hoeltz from Inocullatech to discuss the next steps of our partnership and plan the installation of a 500 L raceway pond for microalgae production. This system was built through funding provided by the CNPq Research, Innovation, and Internationalization project, reinforcing our commitment to innovation, technological development, and applied science. It will enable us to significantly expand our microalgae production capacity.

🔬 Research, Innovation and Collaboration: Building the Future Together Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from CNR-ITM (Institute on Membrane Technology of the National Research Council of Italy) at the MANN+HUMMEL Water & Membrane Solutions facility in Fano. ITM-CNR is an internationally recognized center of excellence in the research and development of membrane technologies for water treatment, resource and energy recovery, and circular economy applications. 💡 The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas on technologies that not only address current market needs but also anticipate future industry trends. Among the topics discussed were membrane distillation, membrane crystallization, and membrane condensers—innovative solutions capable of accelerating the transition toward more sustainable and efficient management of water and energy resources. 🤝 I strongly believe that innovation is born from the combination of scientific research and industrial application. Only through continuous collaboration between research institutions and industry can we develop technologies that transform today's challenges into tomorrow's opportunities, while staying ahead of market demands and emerging trends. 🎓 For me, this meeting also had a special personal meaning. My path crossed with ITM-CNR many years ago through an educational experience that played an important role in my professional development. Great to see this progress. The John Warner Center will be a valuable addition to Germany’s innovation ecosystem, supporting start-ups and research teams in translating promising ideas into practical applications.
