What does AI transformation look like beyond the hype? Our Director of Artificial Intelligence, Lou Compagnone, recently delivered a guest lecture to the Master of Information Systems cohort at the University of Melbourne, looking at what it takes to achieve genuine AI transformation.
She gave students an honest look at the difference between organisations adopting AI tools and those fundamentally redesigning how work gets done, drawing on Datacom's own strategy journey and live demos of AI agents built by our teams. Lou also made a strong case for why non-technical skills like change leadership, governance thinking and communication are critical to where AI lands in organisations.
It was a great reminder that in a field evolving as quickly as AI, we're all lifelong students – and that mindset is exactly what enables real change.

So proud of our talented team – we had four finalists in the running for the NZ WIICTA Awards and Minu Mathew walked away as the winner of the 2026 WIICTA award for technical excellence, which recognises problem-solving and advanced technical and engineering expertise, exhibiting deep knowledge of products, solutions and services.

Here’s how we took part in National Blood Donor Week
Our Datacom team attended a “Bloody Important Meeting” hosted by New Zealand Blood Service.
Datacom is proud to have three ‘Team Reds’ across our Auckland, Wellington and Tauranga offices. Team Red is a group blood & plasma donation programme that gives our people the opportunity to save lives alongside their colleagues. Every donation contributes to the team tally.
Across our three teams, more than 950 donors have stepped up to give blood or plasma, helping support patients and save lives across Aotearoa.
We’re proud to have had over 80 donors participate at our recent Auckland mobile blood drive and we encourage even more of our people to book in their own Bloody Important Meetings. ❤️🩸
Talent Elevator welcomes graduates to Datacom

This year marked the first Talent Elevator where we brought together our Australian and New Zealand graduates. The induction programme took place at our Auckland office where these talented newcomers took the first steps in their careers in the tech industry.
