How Human Is Your Company? It’s Time to Find Out!

Hello!

It’s been a month full of momentum here at TLC Lions, especially across the Americas!

Throughout May, we’ve been working across the US, LATAM and Canada exploring the big themes shaping the future of work: AI, adaptability, curiosity, culture and future-ready leadership. And across every conversation, one thing keeps emerging: The organisations thriving most aren’t becoming less human. They’re becoming more intentionally human.

That’s exactly why the TLC Lions Human Awards Americas feel especially important this year.

Nominations will remain open until midnight ET - June 5th. It's your final chance to join our movement and recognise a leader, team or company for all they do.

There are nine, diverse categories to recognise, which you can read more about here.

And this year, every nomination goes even further.

For every nomination submitted, we’ll donate $10 to the YMCA of Greater New York City.

Nominations are fast, easy and completely free. So what’s stopping you?

At a recent client breakfast in New York City, we asked a simple question: “Can you teach curiosity?” And this month, we’ve been doing exactly that.

Across the US and beyond, we’ve been delivering experiential workshops and leadership programmes focused on the human capabilities needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world of work. With Lions delivering work across every continent except Antarctica for the fifth month running this year, our mission to make workplaces more human continues to travel further than ever!

After an exclusive TLC Lions Members’ Club preview in April, May also marked the wide release of our 4C Framework Report - revealing over a decade of research and insights into what makes the world’s most human organisations tick… Find out more here.

If you’re curious to discover how human your organisation really is, take our Human Organisation Scorecard.

Now, let’s take a look at what’s been happening this month in the world of people, culture and business 👇

🛋️ Flatpack futures, not flat out layoffs: IKEA’s chatbot Billy now handles around 57% of customer conversations, but rather than cutting roles, IKEA reskilled staff into interior design consultant roles, reportedly generating nearly €1 billion in additional revenue. AI done well can move people into higher value, more human work. Explore the People Matters article here.

🧠 AI agents on the org chart? Not so fast! HBR warns against treating AI agents like “employees”. Their research found that humanising AI can blur accountability, increase escalations, reduce error spotting and create more uncertainty about human roles. AI agents can be powerful, but they still need clear human ownership. Explore the HBR article here.
