BLUE CAST: AMK ATELIER’S MARIA GUNNARSSON ON FINDING THE RIGHT FIT AND DIFFERENTIATED DENIM AMK atelier founder Maria Gunnarsson describes herself as a “fit nerd.” In her view, fit is one of the key aspects that makes or breaks a pair of jeans. As Maria Gunnarsson told Lenzing Group’s Tuncay Kılıçkan on the latest episode of our Blue Cast podcast, consumers have gotten very used to dealing with ill fitting clothing. But she doesn’t want wearers to settle, which comes down to product development that prioritizes fit. “We all need to learn how it feels to wear something that fits you really well, because that also makes you as an end consumer educated in your selection of why you would buy something,” she noted. “Imagine if a garment can be your kind of armor to conquer the world and feel good about yourself.” Subscribe and listen to Blue Cast podcasts on Apple and Spotify, and head to the Carved in Blue® blog to learn more about the latest episode: https://lnkd.in/etEVVQg5

FASHION REVOLUTION BOOKLET EXPLORES THE INDUSTRY’S RELATIONSHIP WITH WATER Fashion is inherently reliant on water. Cotton plants need it to grow; manufacturers need water for dyeing and wet processing; and finally, consumers use water to launder their clothes. Fashion Revolution Japan dives into this relationship in its booklet “Fashion and Water,” which came out in May. In Japanese and English, the publication features facts about the water that goes into our clothes, profiles on material innovations and dyeing methods that are curbing water use, and Q&As with figures from the apparel and textile field and beyond. One of the interviews within the publication profiles Lenzing Group’s Krishna Manda (he/him), global head of sustainability. In the Q&A, he discusses Lenzing’s approach to water stewardship, which includes following stringent European rules across its nine global production sites, even when local regulations are laxer.
