For years, Minhaz Uddin had to wait for someone to have time to read his textbooks aloud to him. Hundreds of kilometers away, Nargis Akter was preparing to give up on her dream of becoming a teacher.   For both students with visual impairment in Bangladesh, the barrier was never their ability. It was access.   With support from the Australian Government and through WIPO's Accessible Books Consortium, implemented by Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), accessible digital books and screen reader technology gave Minhaz and Nargis the independence to learn on their own terms - and the confidence to look toward the future. When Hoai Phuc Dang was nine years old, a landmine exploded in his family’s backyard and changed his life forever. That moment marked not only the loss of his sight, but the beginning of a journey that would shape his life’s mission: expanding access to education and opportunity for people who are blind or visually impaired in Viet Nam. When Naruemon Taksa-udom took over her family’s coffee business, she turned to her expertise in agricultural economics to strengthen its foundations and revive the company. With support from WIPO’s IP Management Clinic, Hillkoff has expanded its key trademark, COFFOGENIC, across eight countries and built global partnerships to license its IP portfolio to coffee producers. #WIPO #Thailand

Innovation is helping make childbirth safer. In Kenya, engineer Peter Opinde is developing medical technology to better monitor women’s health during childbirth, helping reduce complications and support timely clinical decisions. As part of the WIPO Global Health Innovation Fellowship, Peter relocated to New Delhi to advance his work at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Through clinical immersions, he gained firsthand insight into the challenges faced by mothers and healthcare teams.
