Here at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, we recently welcomed more new employees to the NASA family. The effort is part of the agency’s workforce directive initiative to build core competencies to advance America’s leadership in space. They were sworn in by our Acting Center Director, Rae Ann Meyer. We are so excited to have these new teammates join us as we continue towards mission success and achieving the agency’s space exploration priorities.

Last call! Registration for NASA's Deep Space Food Challenge: Mars to Table is closing this Friday, July 31. This public competition asks participants to create a complete meal plan for a crew on Mars, along with concepts for food systems that use a variety of food sources and technologies to meet a crew’s nutritional needs. Catherine Franco is a first-generation college student, lover of STEM, and now, a four-time #NASAIntern! This summer, Catherine is working with our Human Landing Systems program to improve design efficiency for future spaceflight systems and to advance the modernization of rocket propulsion development. Interested in becoming a crew member on a yearlong simulated space mission? Apply today! NASA is seeking participants for its first Moon and Mars Exploration Analog, set to begin no earlier than August 2027 at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. For one year, volunteers will live and work in isolation and confinement while simulating interplanetary transit and planetary surface operations. The mission will provide valuable data on the technologies, protocols, and requirements needed to support crew health and performance on future deep space journeys, all without leaving Earth. To qualify, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, aged 30-55, hold a bachelor’s or advanced degree in a STEM field, have strong technical skills, pass a physical and psychological assessment, and more.
