    I’ve seen more Private Equity-backed companies looking at RMIS solutions like Aclaimant in the last 12 months than I can remember in my entire career. At first glance, it seems counterintuitive. PE firms are notorious for running lean and scrutinizing every line item of OPEX. Why would they double down on risk management software? It makes perfect sense when you look at their unique pressures: Growth, Margins, and Control. When you are operating on a 3-5 year hold cycle, "Active Risk Management" isn't just about safer work places—it's about EBITDA. Here is the math I see smart PE operators doing: 1. The M&A Data Trap If you acquire three companies in a year, you inherit three different ways of tracking claims, three different safety cultures, and three different sets of spreadsheets. That is a blind spot. A modern RMIS consolidates that chaos into a single source of truth immediately, making integration faster. 2. The Valuation Multiplier. Every dollar saved on Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) is a dollar added to EBITDA. In the PE world, that dollar isn't just a dollar—it’s worth 10x or 12x at exit. Reducing claims costs is one of the most efficient ways to drive enterprise value without cutting headcount. 3. Scalable Controls. You can't scale what you can't see. PE firms need to know that their portfolio companies have operational discipline. Digitizing risk workflows proves that controls are in place, making the asset more attractive to the next buyer.     Modern #MDM architecture for insurance A modern insurance data platform should treat #MDM not as a separate monolithic hub, but as a set of platform capabilities embedded into the target architecture. Source systems such as #CRM, policy administration, claims, billing, and third-party data providers first land in an immutable Bronze layer, where raw fidelity, lineage, and auditability are preserved. From there, data moves into the Silver layer, typically implemented with #DataVault and conformed entity patterns, where integration and mastering take place. Within Silver, the core #MDM capabilities include identity registry, reference and hierarchy management, semantic mastering, and data quality observability. Together, these capabilities reconcile identifiers across systems, govern code sets and hierarchies, apply business meaning to data, and monitor quality thresholds and operational trust. This layer produces consolidated entities such as Party, Policy, and Provider, which become reusable mastered data products for downstream consumption. The Gold layer then consumes these mastered entities to create certified marts for claims, underwriting, billing, finance, regulatory reporting, and AI-driven use cases. Gold should not invent business meaning; it should publish trusted and already-mastered meaning in a consumption-ready form. This is what allows KPIs, semantic models, and downstream analytics to remain reconcilable and explainable. A control plane must operate across the entire architecture. This includes lineage, policy enforcement, masking, DSAR and purge workflows, data contracts, and service-level objectives. Without this governance layer, even well-modeled mastered data will fail to scale safely across analytical and operational use cases. In regulated industries such as insurance, this control plane is essential for transparency, auditability, and privacy compliance. Where operational consistency is required, consolidated entities can also be published through #APIs and events in a coexistence model. This enables downstream operational platforms to consume shared mastered identifiers and governed reference data without forcing every source system into a single transactional MDM hub. The result is a pragmatic architecture: Bronze preserves reality, Silver integrates and masters it, Gold certifies it for consumption, and the control plane governs it end to end. Source systems feed an immutable Bronze layer, while Silver/Data Vault implements identity resolution, reference and hierarchy management, semantic mastering, and data quality observability to produce consolidated entities. Gold consumes these mastered entities as certified marts, while a cross-platform control plane enforces lineage, policies, privacy, contracts, and SLOs. Modern Data 101
