Abstract
An effort has been made to illustrate the performance comparison of the Rayleigh, Rician and Nakagami fading channel models by using MATLAB implementation in terms of source velocity and number of multiple paths. Algorithms for the Rayleigh, Rician and Nakagami-m fading channels have been developed, which computes the envelope and pdf. The parameters such as source velocity and pdf play a very important role in the performance analysis and design of the digital communication systems over the multipath fading environment.

The paper simulated and analyzed the statistical perfomances of the Nakagami fading channel in wireless communication with MATLAB, including the Level Crossing Rates and Average Fade Durations on the Maximal-Ratio Combining diversity. The objective of this paper is also to analysis channel capacity for correlated MIMO Nakagami – m fading with Waterfilling Algorithm. Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO) system have the potential to achieve very high capacities, depending on the propagation environment. A MIMO system provides multiple independent transmission channels, thus, leading (under certain conditions) to a channel capacity that increases linearly with the number of antenna elements. It is well known that the employment of multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver increases the overall system capacity.

The objective of this paper is to analyze slow, flat, Rayleigh fading channels in modern digital communication systems having different coherent modulation techniques. Most of the packages can only be used to analyze analog communication systems, but modern systems are, increasingly, digital. Improved many-on-many (IMOM) is a two-dimensional, graphical-oriented, radio frequency modeling tool is used to determine probability of channel bit error rather than information bit error, which allows generic solutions independent of the specifics of the system under investigation as long as the particular modulation type is known. Constellation diagram of various modulation techniques, power of faded signal and signal at receiver are plotted in MATLAB environment. The Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) is suitable example of this analysis.

In the Wireless Communication, the multipath effects, Doppler shift, and power loss, causing by the dissemination environment, have always effected the high speed transportation of the data. On the other hand, the complexity and randomness of the wireless communication environment itself have also made the study of the wireless channel's simulation model very difficult. The Jakes model is an ideal simulation model of small-scale Rayleigh flat fading channels, and it can be realized by the superimposition of the limited LFO (low frequency oscillators). So, by the simulation of Doppler shift, the analysis of the multipath effects and taking the advantages of the Jakes model, we designed an ideal small-scale Rayleigh flat fading channel block on the SCILAB. The development of this block has not only improved the communication simulation library of the SCILAB, but also provided an effective environment of the channel for the closed-loop test of the wireless communication system. Meanwhile, the application of this channel block has also provided a reference platform for the test and construction of the wireless communication simulation system.

Knowledge of channel behaviours in mobile radio communication is extensively recommended for the study of transmitter/receiver performances. Our intention in this master's thesis is to develop various kinds of mobile fading channel simulators using Matlab. The developed channel simulators were combined into a user-friendly toolbox from which users can easily select well-known channel models to test and to study the performance of mobile communication systems. The toolbox can be integrated into the new release of Matlab software. The toolbox contains channel simulators for spatial shadowing processes, MIMO channels, frequency-selective channels, multiple uncorrelated Rayleigh fading channels, etc. Recent new algorithms proposed to compute the model parameters of the channel simulators were also implemented in the toolbox to enable the parameterization of the channel simulators under specific propagation conditions. Finally, we developed a set of test procedures, such as the autoc...

Fading communication channel models found in literature can be described in the time domain [4], [2] or frequency domain [5]. If computer simulation is the employed method the choice between each other method can be based in the processing time and or implementation easiness. This work presents a new sample generation method, applicable to Rayleigh multipath fading channel, named

In this paper, we have presented a comparative study of four different Rayleigh fading channel simulation methods with respect to computational complexity and accuracy. Fidelity of the various simulators is examined in terms of confidence interval also. The sum-of-sinusoids (SOS)-based simulation method can accurately generate a very long sequence without any impact on computer memory usage. The inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT)based simulator is relatively fast and able to generate a sequence corresponding to a given autocorrelation function (ACF). However, its applicability is limited due to large memory space requirement. For small sequences, algorithm based on covariance matrix is most efficient but its time complexity grows many folds as the sequence length is increased. Autoregressive modelling (AR) of fading process is needed when time evolution of fading process is exploited for channel tracking. The accuracy of the generated sequence ACF using the above four methods is also compared through an example.

In this paper, we analyze and compare seven of the most accepted and approved simulation models for Rayleigh fading channels. These models cover the three popular methods for generating time-correlated Rayleigh fading processes: the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) method, the filtering white Gaussian noise (FWGN) method and the sum-of-sinusoids (SOS) method. Three quantitative measures are used for judicious assessment of the quality of generated processes. The study addresses firstand second-order statistics of the fading process. The variance of the autocorrelation function (ACF) of the fading process is used to investigate the convergence of the stochastic SOS-based models. An evaluation of the computational effort is additionally presented. The simulation results suggest that the recently published Wang's model is very attractive and it outperforms all SOS models. This study leads to several important conclusions about the accuracy, capability and efficiency of the different Rayleigh fading generators.
This paper compares the performance of Rayleigh, Rician and Log-normal distributions in mobile wireless transmission system. In these distributions link quality cannot be predicted accurately enough to achieve reliable performance because of the unpredictable nature of the time-varying channel at different mobile speeds in sub-urban environment and as a result it will be very difficult to select the appropriate model in the system design for proper implementation. Binary Phase Shift Keying signaling scheme is used to modulate the data to be analyzed for efficient transmission over the three different distributions at mobile speeds of 30 km/h, 60 km/h and 90 km/h at carrier frequency of 900 MHz. Square root raised cosine filter is used to convert the modulated signal to analog signal suitable for transmission. The received bits through the channel without mitigating technique over the three scenarios are analyzed and Bit Error Rate (BER) computed for comparison. The results obtained showed that Rayleigh distribution has the highest BER, while Rician distribution has the BER between the Rayleigh and log-normal at the different speeds considered. This implies that Rayleigh distribution is the best model to be adopted by communication systems engineers.
In this paper, multipath Rayleigh fading channel and a multipath Rician fading channel are simulated. This model is simulated for 4 QAM modulation and the effects of noise on fading and scattering property of the channel were simulated. Using Matlab with Simulink the impulse response, Frequency Response, Multipath Gain ,and Doppler Spectrum are measured for both Rayleigh and Rician fading.
