Careers are a reality of life that need to be considered as multi-dimensional in today’s modern societies. Choosing a career is a complex process that coincides with high school and university ages, creating psycho-social stress. Considering the literature, the effects of different environmental factors have been revealed in separate studies. This study examines both individual and environmental factors together. By adopting a quantitative research method, we collected cross-sectional data through online questionnaires from 1130 university students. The association of family influence and academic satisfaction with happiness through career decision self-efficacy was meaningful using gender, age, income, and parents’ education as control variables. WeChat, blogs, and university webpages significantly shaped their career choices and satisfaction levels. Qualitative insights reveal that authenticity, transparent communication, and alignment between institutional messaging and lived experiences were key to sustaining trust. Traditional channels such as brochures and fairs remained important for credibility, supporting a hybrid marketing approach. The study contributes to management theory and practice in universities by linking digital communication strategies to student engagement and institutional performance. It also highlights the need for inclusive, transparent, and culturally adaptive marketing that reflects local and global contexts. These findings provide actionable guidance for higher education administrators seeking to build sustainable student trust, enhance recruitment effectiveness, and strengthen institutional reputation in competitive and resource-constrained systems.

This autoethnographic study examines the relationship between academic success and a sense of belonging among first-generation Latinas (FGLs) attending predominantly White institutions (PWIs). Drawing on lived experience and the narratives of four additional FGLs, the study explores retention and engagement, cultural expectations, institutional barriers, and the role of counterspace in fostering belonging. Guided by constructivist and Chicana feminist frameworks, findings reveal that belonging is essential for persistence, identity formation, and upward mobility. The study highlights the need for culturally responsive practices and systemic change to support FGLs in higher education.

The shifting labor market conditions paired with an increased responsibility to self-negotiate career development have exacerbated employment uncertainties for many young undergraduate students. To support their career development, qualitative career assessment instruments facilitating reflexivity could play a role. This research focused on "Influences on Career Decisions" (ICD) and aimed to explore its use with young Australian undergraduate students and its potential in facilitating reflective careers and employment conversations. Six participants attended career interviews that utilized ICD. Findings revealed ICD's role in the facilitation of a collaborative and systemic career exploration process. Implications for career practice and research are outlined.

It blends autobiography, trauma recovery, clinical insight, and academic research to explore his life story, professional journey, and research interests, with a focus on trauma, post-traumatic growth, and career development, particularly among veterans. The narrative details his experiences with transgenerational trauma, military service, and personal adversity, highlighting the pivotal role of the Warrior PATHH program in his journey toward healing and self-discovery. The document also introduces a unique self-assessment scale and discusses various psychological theories of motivation and attribution in the context of his own life and academic pursuits. Ultimately, it serves as a testament to resilience and the human ability for growth, aiming to illuminate a path for others navigating similar challenges.

Current research investigates that personality traits as well as career goals among secondary school students are mediated by Vocational Outcome Expectations (VOE) and Career Decision Making Self Efficacy (CDMSE). Employing Big Five personality traits framework, study analyzes how these traits influence students' career choices and the mechanisms through which self-efficacy and outcome expectations mediate this relationship. Data were collected from 568 secondary school students in the 11th and 12th grades, representing eight schools across eight districts in Tripura, India. Deploying a quantitative approach, standardized questionnaires were administered to assess personality factors, Outcome Expectations, Career Goals, and CDMSE. Results demonstrate personality factors or traits, especially Openness, have a crucial role in the student's Choice Goals, with CDMSE mediating as a significant factor and VOE enhancing this relationship, stressing the relevance of CDMSE in pursuit of career goals. The findings suggest that promoting CDMSE may assist students in utilizing their personality factors more efficiently in the formulation and achievement of career objectives, which are of high degree. However, as the research is based on self-assessment questionnaires, it has certain limitations with respect to generalizing findings, and additional factors that affect Choice Goals should also be analyzed further. These limitations provide potential areas for future research, which should focus on the impact of specific educational programs targeted to enhance CDMSE on student outcomes in different contexts.

This study has as objectives: to examine the impact of social capital in the enhancement of cocoa production in Cameroon, explore the determinants of social capital and to discuss the challenges faced by producers in cocoa production. Methodologically, we have constructed a social capital indicator using Multiple Correspondence Analyses. Primary data is collected in the cocoa zone and probit model use to estimate the result. The result revealed a strong correlation between social capital and agricultural production while the level of education, gender, marital status, financial status, experience in farm activity, household size and agricultural training are strongly corroborating with social capital. In addition, farm size, level of education, application of fertilizers, modern equipment, climate change, access to credit and land tenure system are observed to be the major challenges of farmers in this cocoa zone. We suggest that the decision makers should promote social networking among farmers in the zone.

Moral development is a cognition-based mechanism, measured in terms of individuals' positive behavioural change, and based on a universal interpretation of right and wrong. Throughout recorded history, societies in many parts of the world were aware of this important phenomenon, but it is still debated "how to develop morality". As such, various moral development processes are deliberately practised in societies. Modern researchers have recommended various moral development techniques, which are being practised in schools. However, it is difficult to find success stories, and it seems that moral education projects have been deliberately abandoned. My studies related to this discipline revealed that the incomplete conceptualisation of the moral development process and inadequacy of the studies related to the process had retarded the growth of this discipline. It was observed that a process theory is not available to support the moral development process. Hence, this study intended to fill this gap.

It examines the generational dynamics influencing work preferences, including technological adaptability, socio-cultural values, and economic factors, providing a comparative perspective between these cohorts. The study highlights common themes such as the demand for flexibility, innovation, and work-life balance, alongside divergences in job stability and entrepreneurial inclinations. By synthesizing findings from diverse methodologies and theoretical underpinnings, the paper identifies significant trends and gaps, offering actionable insights for policymakers and organizations aiming to align with the aspirations of these generational cohorts.

Career uncertainty has been cited as a major factor impacting academic success and persistence in post-secondary studies [1]. Traditionally, career planning has focused on uncovering personal preferences and interests, often drawing from personality indicators, interest inventories and aptitude testing. However, research has indicated that individuals who select careers that are aligned with their personal values tend to experience greater life satisfaction [2], career satisfaction [3], happiness [4] and work productivity [5]. This paper will outline several ways that Positive Psychology approaches can be used in secondary and post-secondary settings to enhance the career planning process. The employability of graduates in the field of employment is a government agenda to ensure that the unemployment rate can be reduced. Following that, various parties have implemented different ways to help graduates find employment. Although efforts have been made, there are a few graduates in Science, Arts and Social Sciences, and Information and Communication Technology who are still lacking in making career decisions, so that they fail to make good career considerations. To overcome this problem, the main goal of the analysis is to provide insight into the student's self-efficacy in career decision-making and their outcomes expectations. This study obtained 765 final-year students at one university in Malaysia. The result showed that there is a significant difference in students' self-efficacy in career decision-making and their outcomes expectations based on faculty. The results of this study have significant implications for experts engaged in the field of career development or university counselors to make sure final-year students in certain fields have more confidence to face the labor market.

Although the demand for professionals in the field of Information Systems continues to grow, attracting students into Information Systems programs is a challenge. Today’s high school students belong to Gen Z, one of the largest, most educated, and diverse generations. Because this group is just beginning to graduate high school and enter the workforce, understanding what influences their career choices and their perception of Information Systems is of great importance. The need for additional cybersecurity experts is greater than ever before. Research has been conducted on how to increase the number of security specialists, improve cybersecurity curriculum, identify the needed skills of a cybersecurity professional, and overcome negative perceptions in organizations. It appears, however, there is limited research regarding perceptions of high school students that may prevent them from exploring this occupation. While there are undoubtedly many reasons students choose to pursue other occupations, this study examined 237 high school students at one of the highest performing secondary schools in the Mountain State Region of the United States in attempt to explain what perceptions influence a high school student’s choice to pursue a career in cybersecurity. ÖZ Bu araştırmanın amacı, lise öğrencilerinin aile etkisi, yaşam yönelimi ve kariyer karar verme durumunun mesleki olgunluk puanlarını yordayıp yordamadığını belirlemektir. Ayrıca bu araştırmada lise öğrencilerinin mesleki olgunluk düzeylerinin cinsiyete, sınıf düzeyine ve anne-baba eğitim düzeyine göre incelenmesi de amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma grubunu 310 (159 kız ve 151 erkek) lise öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verilerinin toplanmasında Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Yaşam Yönelimi Ölçeği (YYÖ-R), Kariyer Seçiminde Aile Etkisi Ölçeği (KSAEÖ) ve Mesleki Olgunluk Ölçeği (MOÖ) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri Çoklu Doğrusal Regresyon Analizi, t testi, tek yönlü varyans ve Kruskal Wallis-H testi kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Regresyon analizi sonuçları, yaşam yönelimi ve kariyer kararı verme durumunun birlikte mesleki olgunluğa ilişkin toplam varyansın %6.7'sini açıkladığını göstermiştir. Kariyer kararını verme durumu, mesleki olgunluğun en güçlü yordayıcı olup bunu yaşam yönelimi takip etmektedir. Aile etkisi mesleki olgunluğu anlamlı düzeyde yordamamıştır. Öğrencilerin mesleki olgunluk düzeylerinin cinsiyete, sınıf düzeyine, anne ve babanın öğrenim düzeyine göre anlamlı olarak farklılaşmadığı bulunmuştur. Internet usage provides a constant source of information, education and entertainment, social networking and educational purposes but its excessive use among the students is of much concern. Nowadays, the developing rate of organizations, professions, competitions and careers impose greater cognitive and emotional challenges to college students who have to make career decisions. Thus, the quality of career decision making self-efficacy (CDMSE) assumes considerable importance. Career decision-making self-efficacy ascertains adolescent's perceived confidence (self-efficacy) in their ability to plan and implement career related tasks in the educational environment. From the reviews of previous studies it was evident that students self-efficacy and internet usage were highly correlated. In this line, the present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between Internet usage and Career decision making self-efficacy among college students in Chennai city. For this purpose Career decision making selfefficacy tool by Taylor and Betz (1983) and Internet addiction test (1998) by Kimberly Young was used to collect the data. For this purpose data was collected from 72 students in the age group 16-18 years from privately managed colleges through purposive sampling method. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were be used to analyse the collected data. From the results it was found that there exist a negative correlation between Internet addiction and career decision making self-efficacy of adolescents. It was concluded that Internet addiction would affect the career decision making self-efficacy of the adolescents which in turn would hamper their career development process.

Kyselovic. Objectives: Understanding the practice of pharmacy from a global perspective is not a traditional curricular outcome in most US pharmacy programs. The objective of this Co-Curricular activity was to provide students with an understanding, and appreciation for pharmaceutical and medical practices outside the United States. A total of 35 student pharmacists participated in a Travel Study Program (TSP) to Slovakia during the summer of 2013 at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. Topics covered included pharmacognosy, molecular drug design, European pharmaceutical regulatory agencies and the practice of the profession in Slovakia and the European Union (EU). Live lectures, laboratory practices at the host institution together with multiple site visits to different professional practice settings were included in the TSP. Through reflective exercises we assessed the students' ability to: 1. Compare the practice of pharmacy in the US versus Slovakia and the EU 2. Identify the professional benefits of attending a structured pharmacy TSP Method: The 35 students completed reflective academic assignments and cultural competency activities before and after the three-week visit to Bratislava. The students' reflective exercises were analyzed using narrative and content analysis, allowing us to capture the multiple meanings and dimensions of the experiences. Results: The students' narrations reflected a major impact on their professional growth, intercultural sensitivity and competencies. Participants identified major differences in legal and regulatory aspects of the profession. They highlighted the establishment of connections and international learning networks. Implications: We believe that these programs promote global citizenship, while fostering learning and cultural exchange within the pharmacy profession.

Pengambilan resiko merupakan ketidakpastian hasil yang diperoleh oleh individu dan justru cenderung menimbulkan kerugian bagi diri sendiri maupun orang lain. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi pengambilan resiko adalah egosentrisme. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur pengaruh egosentrisme terhadap pengambilan resiko siswa SMAN 1 Sinjai. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian kuantitatif. Teknik sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu cluster random sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh menggunakan skala egosentrisme dan skala pengambilan resiko. Subjek penelitian ini sebanyak 283 siswa, terdiri dari 119 siswa laki-laki dan 164 siswa perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh egosentrisme terhadap pengambilan resiko (r Square = 0,028, dan p = 0,005). Este trabalho buscou compreender como se constrói a carreira de casais homossexuais, individual e conjuntamente, e como são negociadas as trajetórias frente às possibilidades existentes. Realizou-se uma pesquisa qualitativa com seis casais de diferentes idades, formações profissionais e tempo de relação. A coleta de dados ocorreu em dois momentos: entrevistas individuais e com o casal. Para análise dos relatos seguiu-se a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados apontaram que a construção do projeto coletivo evidencia a metamorfose dos projetos individuais e redirecionamentos de carreira com alternância na valorização das trajetórias individuais, permitindo explorar nuances e pontos de virada nas trajetórias de casais de dupla carreira. Se por um lado há maior liberdade para negociações das carreiras, por outro, no campo de possibilidades da trajetória de cada um, emerge um espaço de dilemas e conflitos, na forma como estes casais vivenciam papeis e status em uma sociedade pautada na heteronormatividade.

This study aimed to identify the effects of the Career Readiness Module on career self-efficacy and its subscales, namely self-appraisal, occupational information, goal selection, planning and problem solving among university students. The randomized pretest-posttest control group were used in this study. A total of 60 second year students from the School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, were selected as research subjects using random cluster sampling. Both groups completed the Career Decision Self-Efficacy–Short Form (CDSE-SF) and the Big Five Inventory (BFI) questionnaires before and after the two-month intervention sessions. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science version 23.0. The repeated-measures ANOVA and effect size were used to test the hypotheses of study. The study results showed significant differences in the experimental group for career self-efficacy and each of its subscale between pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test 2 at the p≤.05 significant level. This study also demonstrated the significance of implementing the Career Readiness Module among university students prior to graduation in order to improve their career self-efficacy.

ПЕРЕКЛАД ТА ВАЛІДАЦІЯ ШКАЛИ 'ПРОФІЛІ ПРИЙНЯТТЯ КАР'ЄРНИХ РІШЕНЬ' ДЛЯ УКРАЇНСЬКОЇ АУДИТОРІЇ Анотація. Вступ. У контексті швидких змін на ринку праці та зростання потреби в ефективному кар'єрному самовизначенні, адаптація та валідація інструментів для оцінки процесів прийняття кар'єрних рішень стає особливо актуальною. Шкала "Профілі прийняття кар'єрних рішень" (Career Decision-Making Profiles-CDMP), розроблена Ітамаром Гатті, є одним із таких інструментів, який було вирішено адаптувати для української аудиторії. Мета. Метою дослідження було адаптувати та валідизувати шкалу CDMP для оцінки процесу прийняття кар'єрних рішень серед українських IT спеціалістів. Це передбачало переклад шкали, її психометричну оцінку, та визначення надійності та валідності адаптованої версії. Методи. Дослідження включало переклад оригінальної версії шкали з англійської на українську, пілотне тестування, збір даних серед 155 IT спеціалістів за допомогою онлайн-анкетування, та проведення статистичного аналізу, включаючи конфірматорний факторний аналіз в програмі R за допомогою пакету lavaan та обрахунок коефіцієнта Кронбаха альфа для кожного з 12 вимірів шкали. Результати дослідження. Результати показали, що українська версія шкали CDMP має добру психометричну надійність та валідність. Конфірматорний факторний аналіз підтвердив структуру оригінальної моделі, а коефіцієнти Кронбаха альфа для всіх вимірів варіювалися від .560 до .864, свідчачи про високу внутрішню консистенцію. Висновки. Адаптація та валідація шкали "Профілі прийняття кар'єрних рішень" для української аудиторії показала, що цей інструмент може бути корисним для вивчення кар'єрних процесів серед IT спеціалістів в Україні. Високі показники надійності та валідності вказують на можливість застосування шкали для розробки цілеспрямованих програм кар'єрного розвитку та консультування. Майбутні дослідження мають на меті розширення вибірки та адаптацію шкали для інших професійних груп та проведення процедури конвергентної валідності з іншими шкалами, котрі працюють з подібними конструктами. Career selection and career satisfaction are integral factors that influence an individual's professional development and happiness. This study examines the complex, reciprocal relationship between these two concepts through a review of relevant literature. Career choice involves determining one's future career based on interests, abilities, values, and goals. Proper career selection positively impacts career satisfaction when there is alignment between the individual and their work. Conversely, dissatisfaction with one's chosen path may precipitate career changes. Career satisfaction relates to subjective well-being and success derived from work experiences and achievement of career goals. High satisfaction promotes motivation and productivity, while low satisfaction reduces commitment and performance. Personal characteristics, educational background, socioeconomic factors, and the social environment also shape career choice and satisfaction levels over time. Compatibility between career and individual personality traits or values typically enhances outcomes. Work environment quality, development opportunities, and work-life balance further mediate this relationship. A supportive culture, continuous training, and balanced responsibilities impact job fulfillment. Informed career selection centered on self-awareness establishes foundations for satisfaction and success. However, satisfaction likewise influences persistence or diversification from initial choices. Understanding this complex, mutual relationship optimizes career trajectories and organizational effectiveness.

This paper analyses a community-based educational program involving private and public sector partners instituted in a small city in northern Tasmania. The program represents part of a state-wide initiative to challenge the persistence of structural educational disadvantage and what is understood to be an entrenched “culture” that is insufficiently attuned to the necessity of further education. In this paper, we analyse this program from the perspective of key community partners drawing on a series of semi-structured interviews. We offer an analytic framework that suggests an integrated approach to thinking about supporting educational achievement, attainment and retention in regional Australia. It is our view while there is much that regional communities struggling with change can learn from this program, there are conceptual limitations in the way the problem of educational achievement is understood that should be enhanced by a more comprehensive understanding.

Various factors may be important while individuals develop vocational aspirations. Although occupations that fit one's personal interests appear to be attractive, contextual factors may repel groups, such as young girls, to develop towards areas such as STEM. Especially, the sextype of STEM occupations, that is often considered as male, could limit STEM career choice of young girls. This study investigates career profiles of n = 9277 German university freshmen based on interests, prestige, and sextype. Eleven latent profiles were found. Five profiles can be characterized by their prestige levels and two further by their sextype. Certain profiles are significantly associated with study outcomes and study satisfaction, which allows to identify at-risk profiles. Of note, especially female students in STEM subjects with a low proportion of females distributed widely across the 11 profiles. The implications of this study suggest that career choice profiles according to Gottfredson's framework can help to identify at-risk students.

In this study, the mediating role of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between career adaptability and emotional autonomy and functions of identity psychological counselor candidates who are students of psychological counseling and guidance undergraduate program at the university was examined. The sample of the research consists of 384 psychological counselor candidates studying at state universities. In the study, "Career Adaptability Scale", "Emotional Autonomy Scale", "Functions of Identity Scale", "Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy Scale" were used and data was collected using a personal information form created by the researcher. The theoretically constructed model was analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and bootstrapping technique. According to SEM results, career adaptability is affected directly by emotional autonomy and functions of identity and at same time it is influenced through career decision-making self-efficacy as a mediating variable. The established model was validated by both direct and mediating effects between variables. The results and limitations of the study were discussed within the framework of the past studies.

Resumo Este trabalho buscou compreender como se constrói a carreira de casais homossexuais, individual e conjuntamente, e como são negociadas as trajetórias frente às possibilidades existentes. Realizou-se uma pesquisa qualitativa com seis casais de diferentes idades, formações profissionais e tempo de relação. A coleta de dados ocorreu em dois momentos: entrevistas individuais e com o casal. Para análise dos relatos seguiu-se a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados apontaram que a construção do projeto coletivo evidencia a metamorfose dos projetos individuais e redirecionamentos de carreira com alternância na valorização das trajetórias individuais, permitindo explorar nuances e pontos de virada nas trajetórias de casais de dupla carreira. Se por um lado há maior liberdade para negociações das carreiras, por outro, no campo de possibilidades da trajetória de cada um, emerge um espaço de dilemas e conflitos, na forma como estes casais vivenciam papeis e status em uma sociedade pautada na heteronormatividade.

Career development support deals with the progress of the professional part of our lives. Every career is accompanied by decision situations, opportunities seized or missed, to which we respond according to our increasing or decreasing security level and the resources available. Both the theory and the daily practice of career counselling and guidance are constantly working with the concept of decision, which it puts into a life-course perspective. Thus, every decision has a past, a present, and a projected future temporal dimension. In Europe, the training and further training of career guidance counsellors is based on an interdisciplinary approach. At the same time, the way each discipline views decision-making and the issues it raises differ, while the results of each discipline have an impact on the other. In this article, I explore three concepts: a) decision, b) the life course, and c) the decision-related issues of each discipline. The literature on decision theory is now vast, and this article does not, of course, undertake a comprehensive treatment of the subject. It does, however, draw the reader's attention to aspects that can be considered in the training and practice of counsellors

Problem The very low and declining percentage of females undertaking advanced science and mathematics subjects in Year 12 has been noted by the Office of the Chief Scientist (2014) and the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (Roberts, 2014). In 2011, only 28% of STEM-employed Australians were female, and this figure dropped to 14% for engineering students (Professionals Australia, 2014). Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions that youth has to take but many young people find this a hard issue to engage with. Current career counselling practice does not appear very compelling or motivating to young people. Professional games could provide a more engaging and motivating way of acquiring professional awareness and competence for career decision making and learning. We present the design and effects of playing a game that aims to increase career awareness and adaptabilities in youth (13-19 years). In a Randomized Controlled Trial, 93 high school students from Iceland and Romania were asked to carry out career-oriented activities, with half playing an interactive game and the other half performing a paper-and-pencil version of the same activities. The students were compared on career adaptability, career learning and career awareness scores before and after these interventions. Main results show that engaging players in these careeroriented activities has short term effects on outcome scores for career adaptabilities and for perceptions of career learning competences. Students who played the game report significantly faster growth on career adaptabilities that deal with "concern", "control" and "confidence". It can therefore be concluded that introducing gamebased learning in career decision support for youth is a promising endeavour.

Career exploration can be a stressful experience, often manifested by negative career thoughts. In this article, the factors which influence the ability to cope with negative thinking are investigated. Research purpose: This study investigated the relationship between cognitive ability, emotional intelligence and negative thoughts pertaining to career in a sample of unemployed, non-student adults. Motivation for study: There is a need for research which investigates the psychological factors that contribute to successful career exploration and decision-making. Cognitive ability is one such factor, whilst emotional intelligence is another whose validity is not yet well established. Research design, approach and method: A survey design and quantitative procedures were used in gathering and analysing data gathered from 193 non-student, middle-aged adults attending a community-based career exploration programme in British Columbia, Canada. Cognitive ability, emotional intelligence and negative career thoughts before and after a career exploration programme were measured. Main findings: Neither cognitive ability nor any aspect of emotional intelligence predicted negative career thinking change. Cognitive ability predicted overall negative career thoughts as well as decision-making confusion, but only after the programme. The ability to manage emotions, however, predicted negative career thoughts both before and after the career decision-making programme. Practical/managerial implications: The managing emotions component of emotional intelligence is significantly associated with negative career thoughts. These findings suggest that career counselling requires that the role of emotions and their influence on behaviours must be given more consideration. Industrial and organisational (IO) psychologists would benefit from engaging in programmes that train them to assist clients in becoming more aware of, and increasing, their own emotional intelligence. Contribution/value-add: The study added insights to the field of career psychology regarding the ability of emotional intelligence to predict important outcomes regarding the dimensions of emotional intelligence (EI) as measured by a performance-based test predicting negative career thoughts amongst the non-student, adult population.

Both the external socioeconomic , safety and health conditions, as well as the changes implemented by the education sector (reforms of the curriculum content and approach, the shift of educational development strategy and organizational structure paradigm, technological changes, pandemic restrictions, shortage of teachers) are changing rapidly in the world, which forces educational institutions to raise the awareness of the teachers' professional competence potential in new working conditions and move towards the training of highly qualified, competent and excellence-oriented teachers-educational institutions have encountered the need to search for the most efficient ways to improve the quality and efficiency of the teaching process. Therefore, the goal of the study has been set to identify the teachers' professional development needs and the self-assessment of competences, determining the fundamental principles of efficient school administration. The research methodology is based on the theoretical research method (scientific and methodical literature analysis); empirical research method (survey of teachers in one of the comprehensive education institutions in Latvia); data processing and analysis methods. Analysing the data obtained in the study, it can be concluded that the factors influencing the teachers' qualitative and efficient professional development are the lack of a systematic approach in the country in general and the work overload. The teacher attends courses and seminars, but is unable to implement the acquired knowledge, insights and innovations in their daily work due to the lack of time, workload and responsibilities, as a result, teachers feel demotivated and are pessimistic about their future path in the profession.

Relatively little is understood about which factors influence students' choice of specialty and when learners ultimately make this decision. The objective is to understand how experiences of medical students relate to the timing of selection of Emergency Medicine (EM) as a specialty. Of specific interest were factors such as how earlier and more positive specialty exposure may impact the decision-making process of medical students. A cross-sectional survey study of EM bound 4th year US medical students (MD and DO) was performed exploring when and why students choose EM as their specialty. An electronic survey was distributed in March 2015 to all medical students who applied to an EM residency at 4 programs representing different geographical regions. The aim of this study was to test Gottfredson's (1981) compromise model by comparing the relative importance of sex-type, prestige, and interests under career preference and compromise choice situations using a policy-capturing paradigm. Thirty-seven participants rated the attractiveness of 27 hypothetical jobs created through the factorial combination of each of the 3 levels of sextype, prestige, and interests. The unique percentage of variance accounted for by each factor for each respondent was calculated and these data were subjected to a 3 x 2 repeated measures analysis of variance. No support was found for Gottfredson's compromise model. Sex-type was not the most resistant to compromise nor were interests most easily compromised. Results are discussed in light of the difficulties encountered in testing Gottfredson's compromise model. This article discusses the concepts of professional motivation and career barriers from the gender point of view. The research problem is expressed in the following questions: what personal and socio-cultural factors motivate young people to choose Physics and Mathematics study programmes? Are there significant differences in expression of motives and career barriers among male and female students? The sample consisted of 86 undergraduate students: 45 females and 41 male. Respondents were asked to write down their reflections as a free text answering the question why did they make such a professional choice choosing Physics and Mathematics studies. This paper aims to move the research field on sustainable careers forward by building conceptual clarity about what a sustainable career means and delineating what distinguishes sustainable from non-sustainable careers, thereby providing key indicators of a sustainable career. Moreover, we approach sustainable careers from a systemic and dynamic perspective and address influential factors associated with stakeholders situated in multiple contexts and evolving over time. We elaborate on core theoretical frameworks useful for enhancing our understanding of what makes careers sustainable and present three key dimensions that can help to analyze and study sustainable careers: person, context, and time. Finally, we propose a research agenda that we hope will spur scholars to examine the topic in more detail in future empirical work.

In order to live well, we should love what we do and feel that what we do is important. Some of us struggle with the difficulty of finding our way onto the right life path, while others navigate with energy and enthusiasm to fulfilling, successful lives. What is it that makes the difference? I believe that the principles of positive psychology can be applied to the career navigation process to elevate and enhance our capacity to find good and right work. In this paper, I will look through a positive psychology lens at career development theory and propose a series of interventions for the career navigation process which apply strengths-based interventions that have proven effective in non-career focused settings.
