This article examines the personnel challenges faced by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector in Haryana State, India, and provides probable revival remedies. The study includes three components of personnel challenges, such as the attentiveness of employees, training, and recruitment. The study is based on primary data that has been collected from 384 entrepreneurs using a structured questionnaire from six districts in each division, i.e., Yamuna Nagar (39), Faridabad (93), Gurugram (103), Hisar (49), Sonipat (40), and Panipat (60), following the using the Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table. The data have been analysed using SPSS-29 with statistical tools, i.e., frequency, mean, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and percentage. The study found that entrepreneurs in the state faced personnel-related issues, i.e., low cooperation among employees, family problems, strikes, high labour costs, a lack of skilled workers, a lengthy recruitment process, lack of continuous training to employees, and ineffective training, based on various independent variables. Further, the study recommended that welfare services, distinct refresher courses, workshops, and seminars on skill development, as well as competitive salaries, are required to overcome these challenges and reduce staff turnover.

La educación para la ciudadanía ambiental (CA), entendida como el empoderamiento cívico para la acción sociopolítica y la resolución de problemas socioambientales, constituye un eje en la didáctica de las ciencias. No obstante, la falta de programas de desarrollo docente específicos dificulta su integración en las prácticas pedagógicas. Como parte de la fase inicial de una investigación basada en el diseño (IBD), este estudio investiga las necesidades formativas de 53 docentes en educación para la CA en el contexto educativo portugués. Se aplicó un cuestionario estructurado en tres dimensiones (caracterización, necesidades y preferencias), validado por expertos, cuyos datos se sometieron a un análisis mixto y de contenido. El análisis revela una disonancia fundamental entre la aspiración docente por una CA con dimensión sociopolítica y una práctica frecuentemente restringida a un modelo ecológico tradicional. Esta distancia podría explicarse por una inseguridad conceptual y la falta de un repertorio de prácticas para promover el activismo y la acción comunitaria. El profesorado expresa una clara preferencia por metodologías activas y formatos flexibles. Se concluye que un programa de desarrollo profesional eficaz debe diseñarse para superar esta disonancia, articulando fundamentos críticos con metodologías participativas que los capaciten para el compromiso cívico.

Practical work in science education encompasses a diverse array of pedagogical practices, from controlled verification experiments to open-ended exploratory activities (Oliveira & Bonito, 2023; Spaan et al., 2025). Traditional practical work typically reinforces theoretical concepts by guiding students through highly structured procedures that confirm expected results. While this form of practical work can develop basic laboratory skills and understanding of scientific concepts, it often fails to engage students meaningfully with science as a dynamic and socially embedded practice. In contrast, "Problem-Based Practical Work in Real Contexts" (PBPWRC) prioritizes student agency, contextual authenticity, and the integration of science with societal issues. Rather than following a script, students identify, investigate, and address realworld problems they find relevant, meaningful, and urgent (Bencze & Alsop, 2014; Hodson, 2020). PBPWRC challenges the notion of science as an isolated discipline by embedding scientific inquiry within broader societal, environmental, and ethical contexts. Students are encouraged to address issues such as climate change, waste management, public health, and biodiversity loss-problems they encounter in their everyday lives. By designing and conducting investigations that respond to these concerns, students not only develop scientific knowledge and skills, but also build an understanding of science as a tool for social analysis and change (Bencze, 2017). This kind of practical work resonates with students' experiences, enhances motivation, and fosters a sense of ownership over their learning.

Several authors have emphasized the importance of affectivity in the teaching and learning process, influencing creativity, motivation, belonging, and memorization. But what if we talked about benevolence? Is there room for this approach in the school context? Concern for the well-being of students includes preparing them to be honest, helpful, responsible, loyal, respectful, and harmonious with the group. We use the term 'benevolence' to represent care for the learning climate, the organizational climate, and the creation of respectful and affable interpersonal relationships in the school environment. It seems important to remember that socio-emotional competencies cannot be measured; therefore, the predominant evaluation is qualitative, observed through self-assessment, self-report, interviews (individual, group, narrative, and episodic interviews), group discussions, online questionnaires, and other methods that support the evolution of student learning. We cannot lose sight of the fact that assessment is a continuum that should occur at multiple points during the lesson, and cannot be viewed in a compartmentalized way. This premise is essential so that assessment methodologies approximate, as much as possible, the reality of student learning, and from this, the teacher can choose the best remediation strategy, if necessary.

In this teaching practice-oriented article, we discuss fostering students' future-oriented skills by integrating generative AI (GAI) tools, such as ChatGPT and Gemini, into EFL academic writing classrooms. We begin with an overview of the larger project underpinning this discussion, funded by a public grant to explore the effective and ethical integration of GAI into academic writing education. Next, drawing on key academic literature on classroom GAI use, we present two activities that demonstrate how it can be integrated into the writing classroom. Developed for inclusion in a writing textbook that incorporates GAI, these activities are: (1) explicitly teaching students to interact effectively with GAI tools and (2) a creative writing task that engages students with GAI ethics. In addition, we address practical issues related to incorporating GAI into a reflective process-writing workflow and offer recommendations for readers to integrate these insights into their own practice.

The Design Research Laboratory - DRL was a postgraduate course established at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, in London, in the late 1990s, focused on investigating how to generate as yet unknown spatialities and social organizations. This Dissertation investigated the modes of notation in the DRL/s design processes whilst at the same time exploring the DRL as a Laboratory (its pedagogy). It examines the relationships between concepts and diagrams (Foucault/Deleuze & Guattari), assessing the contributions of these propositions, questioning the architectural discourses and productions of the time, and evaluating their goals.

The implementation of the pedagogical model developed by Schio and Reis (2024) offers a transformative approach to fostering Ocean citizenship among students in basic education. This model integrates systemic educational approaches, Ocean Literacy, and citizenship theories into a hands-on citizen science framework. Through activities such as coastal monitoring, data collection, advocacy actions, and interdisciplinary projects, the model has succeeded in raising awareness and promoting sustainable Ocean practices among students, teachers, and their communities. Over two school years, the model engaged over 1500 students and 76 teachers across 36 Portuguese schools, demonstrating its scalability and adaptability to different educational contexts, including schools without direct access to the coast. The model's contribution to the Ocean Decade challenges is evident through its diverse educational outcomes, which build knowledge, develop skills, and foster a personal connection to the marine environment, while instilling a strong sense of Ocean citizenship in students. Piloting the pedagogical model provided a robust framework for integrating Ocean Literacy into basic education, encouraging a generation of Ocean stewards committed to preserving marine ecosystems. These efforts represent a vital step towards the Ocean Decade's broader objectives and the development of a blue curriculum in basic education.

In response to the growing demand for continuous learning which ensures that both young graduates and professionals are updated with relevant skills that guarantee their survival in a fast-paced changing world, microcredentials and digital badges have emerged as pivotal tools for promoting lifelong learning. This paper explores how these tools can contribute to bridging the growing gap between what formal education offers and what the job market demands. It draws on recent studies and international practices to show that microcredentials offer real opportunities for working professionals, recent graduates, and underrepresented groups, to reskill and upskill more efficiently. However, challenges remain as many people still do not know about microcredentials, and concerns about quality, access to technology, and the risk of fragmented learning slow down their wider adoption. By examining policies from countries like Australia, New Zealand, and France, this study highlights how stronger frameworks can build trust and boost uptake. In the end, microcredentials will probably not replace traditional degrees, but they can and in some countries already do offer a valuable path for people to stay relevant, grow professionally, and learn continuously in a world that never stops changing.

In diesem Beitrag wird ein erprobtes Unterrichtsarrangement für den kooperativen Literaturunterricht in der Sekundarstufe II vorgestellt. Am Beispiel des Wassermotivs, das ein zentrales ästhetisches Strukturprinzip und ein sprachlich-literarästhetisches Meta-Motiv für Jenny Erpenbecks Roman Heimsuchung (2008) darstellt, wird ein kooperatives Unterrichtsarrangement mit bild-und textgebender KI am Beispiel eines Gruppenpuzzles illustriert. Leitend ist die Frage, wie KI in einem kooperativen Lehr-Lernraum der Sek. II eingebunden werden kann, um literar(ästhet)isches und medienreflexives Lernen zu ermöglichen, wenn mit einer komplexen Ganzschrift gearbeitet wird. In einem weiten, kunstpädagogisch-orientierten Materialverständnis werden dabei auch konkrete Gegenstände (Materialität) einbezogen, um Textzugänge zu ermöglichen und interpretative Zugänge zum Text zu schaffen. Die persönliche Reflexion des Promptingprozesses nimmt dabei einen besonderen Stellenwert ein. Dabei steht der Prompting-Input der Schüler*innen, der Gruppe und der Output der KI reflexiv im Fokus.

A Cartografia é, hoje, além de interdisciplinar no ambiente escolar, cotidiana. Há, contudo, saberes que devem ser estudados para a compreensão do mapa como uma linguagem. É o caso dos mapas históricos, que permitem ao estudante perceber e analisar as mudanças geográficas e históricas, que refletem na representação do espaço, bem como, compreender os conceitos cartográficos. Atualmente, quando nos referimos à disciplina de Geografia, os livros didáticos apresentam diversas figuras com impressões coloridas, demonstrando um avanço na inserção da Cartografia como metodologia de ensino. Ao contrário do que se esperava, porém, os mapas antigos não aparecem com tanta frequência, e quando aparecem, não são utilizados de maneira funcional. Dentro deste contexto, encontra-se o material distribuído pela Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo a todas as escolas públicas da rede. Este trabalho analisou os mapas históricos presentes nos materiais didáticos de Geografia citados e os métodos adotados para sua utilização em sala de aula. Foram realizadas entrevistas com professores da rede estadual. Dentre os resultados, comprovou-se a subutilização desses mapas, pela sua escassez dentro do material analisado, e pela formação do professor, o que acarreta diversos obstáculos à utilização da Cartografia histórica como fonte de saber. This study examines how Pancasila Education teachers provide an understanding of the meaning and values of Pancasila in the topic of embodying Pancasila through the implementation of TPACK. The application of a Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)-oriented learning approach is a teaching model in the field of education that encompasses the competencies teachers need to possess. Through this TPACK-oriented learning approach, teachers can perform their roles optimally and increase the likelihood of achieving educational goals, particularly in Pancasila Education. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study strategy, and the sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The number of informants in this qualitative research is determined based on the saturation of the data collected during the study. The subjects in this study consisted of two Pancasila Education teachers (G1 and G2) and 60 students from grade XI. Based on the research conducted, the findings indicate that Pancasila Education teachers at one senior high school in Surakarta City have demonstrated a good understanding of integrating technology, pedagogy, and content in the learning process.

It is increasingly important to use the web 2.0 tools in teaching activities. This poster aims to show the usefulness of linking and embedding Web 2.0 tools with Moodle, specifically Google apps through a simple HTML element:"iframe". Moodle is a LMS without connection out of platform. With this HTML element you can display external content on the platform, without leaving Moodle. It is even possible to publish and edit documents from the restricted access Moodle platform. The steps to embed the tools begin with a choice of the desired tool, then generating its corresponding code. Finally, the "Iframe" code is prepared for publication inside Moodle. The "Iframe" allows using within Moodle different external applications. Some of these allow published information inside Moodle course via emails, allowing posting images by mobile phone, updating and collaborate in documents and including external calendar.

eLearning is a term broadly used to describe the process of learning with the use of informational technologies and tools, usually through a web page. Nowadays it is hard to speak about eLearning without implicitly including an eLearning management system and new informational technologies. A learning management system (LMS or LCMS) is used to deliver educational material and manage interaction between students and tutors. LMSs can be open source, commercial or developed in-house by the universities. Tools like audio/ video conferencing, streaming, podcasting, social software, RSS feeds, can be incorporated into the LMS or can be subsequently added to the learning system as individual modules. This present paper seeks to establish the current state of eLearning technologies, both worldwide as well as in Romania.

Resumen: Este artículo se centra en el análisis de un proceso co-diseño de prácticas educativas abiertas (PEA) para el desarrollo de competencias transversales en el contexto de una universidad a distancia. A través de la participación activa de profesoras, estudiantes e investigadora, se pretende facilitar el diseño curricular de prácticas educativas abiertas, que favorezca el desarrollo de competencias transversales por parte de los estudiantes. El estudio se enmarca en una investigación más amplia que aplica el modelo de investigación basada en el diseño (IBD). Concretamente en este artículo se aborda el análisis de la fase de diseño, con un enfoque eminentemente cualitativo, utilizando como instrumentos la observación participante y el análisis de los productos realizados por los participantes en el proceso de co-diseño. El estudio se propone responder las siguientes preguntas: ¿Cómo se lleva a cabo y qué aporta el método de co-diseño al diseño de PEA para el desarrollo de competencias transversales? ¿Qué tipo de contribuciones realizan y qué rol asumen los distintos participantes en el proceso de co-diseño? Los resultados reflejan la dinámica del proceso de co-diseño, el tipo de contribuciones y roles asumidos por cada participante y el aporte efectivo del método de co-diseño para el diseño de PEA, considerando por una parte el grado de comprensión e incorporación de los conceptos fundamentales en los escenarios diseñados y por otra, la utilidad de los instrumentos de diseño utilizados.

This qualitative phenomenological study investigates international instructors’ perspectives and experiences in designing a successful language-based massive open online course (L-MOOC). Detailed information was gathered during Summer 2018 about the instructor’s challenges and strategies through semi-structured interviews with seven participants in six different countries: Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The findings indicated that curating and facilitating a learning environment with a design team helps create an efficient L-MOOC delivery. Additionally, having multiple moderators per course and using forums helps with monitoring learners’ progress. Over the past five years, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have a remarkable ability to expand access to a large scale of participants worldwide to attend free online courses, beyond the formality of the higher education systems. MOOCs have unique features that support a movement toward a vision of lifelong and on-demand learning for those who are working full time or have taken a break from formal education. Despite their popularity and the large scale participation, a variety of concerns and criticism in the use of MOOCs have been raised. The original concept of MOOCs that aims at breaking down obstacles to education for anyone, anywhere and at any time is far away from the reality. In fact, most MOOC implementations so far still follow a top-down, controlled, teacher-centered, and centralized learning model. Endeavors to implement bottom-up, student-centered, truly open, decentralized, and distributed forms of MOOCs are exceptions rather than the rule. Moreover, the lack of human interaction is the major limitation of the existing MOOCs. Other limitations of MOOCs include pedagogical problems concerning assessment and feedback, the lack of interactivity around the video content, as well as the complexity and diversity of MOOC participants. Furthermore, a major problem with MOOCs is the ignorance of the importance and benefits of face-toface communication. These limitations raise some serious concerns on what role MOOCs should play, or how they should fit into the higher education landscape as an alternative model of teaching and learning and a substantial supplement. Therefore, the aim of this dissertation is to shine new light to address these limitations. The new design paradigm of blended MOOCs (bMOOCs) that aim at bringing in-class (i.e. face-to-face) interactions and online learning components together as a blended environment can resolve some of the hurdles facing standalone MOOCs. In fact, the bMOOCs model has the potential to foster student-centered learning, provide effective assessment and feedback, support the interactive design of the video lectures, consider the different patterns of participants in the MOOC, as well as bring the benefits of face-toface interactions into the MOOC environment. This dissertation followed the case study research methodology and the user-centered design approach, in order to design, implement, and evaluate the L 2 P-bMOOC platform. The main contributions are: a theoretical framework that compile and analyze the accumulated literature that has been conducted on Video-Based Learning and MOOCs between 2008 and 2015, a cluster of different patterns of MOOC stakeholders to build a deeper and better understanding of their behaviors, a design dimension and criteria catalogue for effective bMOOC environments, the conceptualization and implementation of the L 2 P-bMOOC platform, an evaluation procedure for usability and effectiveness of bMOOCs, and opportunities for future work in the area of bMOOCs. This study, which aims to examine the learning outcomes of the 2024 Geography Curriculum in terms of social skills, was conducted using document analysis, a qualitative research method. The study is limited to the relationship between the social-emotional skills included in the 2024 Geography Curriculum and the program objectives and the learning outcomes included in the program. The curriculum includes skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation, self-reflection, communication, cooperation, social awareness, responsible decision-making, adaptability, and flexibility.
The 2024 Geography curriculum includes a total of 19 learning outcomes at the eleventh-grade level and 20 learning outcomes at the twelfth-grade level (Table 1). These learning outcomes are generally considered to be related to the 9 socio-emotional skills included in the curriculum (Tables 5 and 6). The Ministry of National Education prepared curricula for all subjects from primary to secondary education in 2024, based on the "Turkish Century Education Model." These curricula were prepared with a skill-based and interdisciplinary approach, and socio-emotional skills are also included. In this context, the 2024 Geography curriculum also includes socio-emotional skills, which are important for students' personality development and academic success. However, the absence of skills related to overcoming potential conflict situations with other individuals, peer bullying, and other forms of aggression and stress/anxiety is considered a deficiency. It is recommended that these deficiencies be addressed in the restructuring of the curriculum.

Science education continues to face persistent structural and pedagogical challenges that constrain the development of conceptual understanding, higher-order reasoning, and meaningful engagement with scientific ideas, particularly for learners from linguistically, culturally, and socially marginalised backgrounds. This doctoral research project will examine the Crisol Model of Science Education, an integrative pedagogical framework that combines Learner-Generated Digital Media (LGDM) with Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education (CASE). The study will investigate the defining design characteristics of the proposed model, explores teachers’ perceptions of its feasibility and implementation, and examines its influence on teacher preparedness to design and facilitate cognitively demanding and inclusive science learning. Adopting a Design-Based Research approach, the study will engage science educators, STEM teachers, and pre-service science teachers across iterative phases of consultation, practitioner feedback, and implementation. Data will be drawn from a mixed-methods design incorporating quantitative and qualitative evidence. The study aims to contribute design-based insights to science education research and to inform teacher education and curriculum design through a theoretically grounded and practice-oriented pedagogical framework.

Developing students’ argumentation skill is now important in many countries. We report on new tools for teachers to construct, share, and iteratively refine idealized dialogues with imagined students. Such tools can become the heart of a laboratory experience in which teachers collaborate around their possible responses to student reasoning. Our design-based research suggests a laboratory experience for teachers should include four components: a case that challenges teachers, research-based resources that can inform teachers’ thinking, a tool for respond constructively to the challenge, and a rubric for formative assessment. Finally, in this chapter, we offer considerations for researchers studying transformative role-playing games. We introduce academic writing in terms of argument, structure, theory, method, data collection, ethics, and other considerations. We briefly introduce key methods including Research through Design, ethnographic methods, and other forms of qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Finally, we provide an overview of some of the evidence-based research available on the effects of role-playing games, organized according to cognitive, affective, and behavioral impacts.

An effective response to the socio-environmental crisis requires the education of critical citizens, capable of articulating local action with collective socio-political engagement. Teachers occupy a central position in educating for Environmental Citizenship (EC), yet in-service professional development models in this area remain scarce. Within a Design-Based Research framework, this article discusses the expert evaluation of a training prototype. 32 experts-comprising EC researchers, TPD researchers, and specialist teachers-responded to a qualitative questionnaire regarding the model's design. Data underwent inductive content analysis, with categories emerging directly from the responses. While results strongly validate the prototype's structure, crucial recommendations emerged for its improvement. Pedagogically, experts suggested focusing on structuring methodologies like Problem-Based Learning and Case Studies to avoid fragmentation. Conceptually, they highlighted the need to deepen critical theoretical foundations and incorporate explicit training in activism and communication skills, enriched by ethical considerations. These findings inform the redesign of a model whose implementation aims to reduce the gap between ecological awareness and transformative civic action, preparing teachers to foster genuine agency in their students.

Many of today’s adolescents are constantly engaging with information through texting, watching videos, listening to music, and even writing papers. Learning to interact properly with information through writing presents a challenge for the students because they are employing all of these applications at once and believe that they are multitasking successfully. This study explored whether participants’ writing changed when using a microblogging tool in Edmodo. The Inside Writing Frame served as the conceptual framework and was employed in creating the microblogs and grading rubric. This qualitative case study examined six microblog work samples from six eighth grade students to determine how the students’ writing changed while using the microblog tool and how the participants viewed their experience. AI is increasingly used in language classrooms, yet EFL lecturers' experiences and reflections remain underexplored. This mixed-methods study examined lecturers' awareness, classroom practices, pedagogical adaptations, reflective approaches, professional development needs, and expectations regarding AI use. Thirty lecturers from four universities in Bengkulu, Indonesia, were purposively sampled. Data were collected via a validated questionnaire and semi-structured interviews and analysed using SPSS and thematic analysis. Findings showed that 76% of lecturers regularly used AI, with younger lecturers using it more than older ones (p < .05). Most found AI beneficial but expressed concerns about plagiarism and overreliance. The study highlights lecturers' experiences, reflective practices, and professional development needs for responsible AI integration. Future research should investigate students' engagement with AI and strategies to ensure sustainable, effective, and ethical use in language classrooms. A mixed-methods design was used to examine EFL lecturers' experiences, practices, and reflections on integrating AI in classroom instruction. Quantitative data were collected via a validated survey measuring lecturers' awareness, usage patterns, and perceived benefits and challenges of AI tools, while qualitative insights were obtained through semi-structured interviews exploring their lived experiences and pedagogical reasoning. This approach allowed the study to capture general trends and new perspectives, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of lecturers' practices and reflections (Creswell & Plano Clark, 2023).

Introduction. Professional recognition programs, such as teaching and learning fellowships, give participants opportunities to reflect on their professional practice and further development. However, there are few theoretical principles and forms of support to help awardees engage in dedicated post-award critical reflection and futurefocused planning (Shaw, 2018). This showcase presents the outcomes of a research project addressing this issue. Aims. The project consists of two studies that share the research question: 'What forms of support can be provided for post-award teaching and learning practice, reflexivity and planning?'. The first study sought to develop a tool that could be leveraged by Fellows of professional recognition programs to support and enhance post-award practice, reflexivity and planning. The second study (in progress) investigates other forms of support for higher education staff (academics, academic developers and institutional leaders) who have been awarded a Fellowship. This showcase presents the outcomes of the first study. Methods. Design-based research (DBR) (Anderson & Shattuck, 2012) was utilised in the first study. Following the principles of DBR, four HERDSA Fellows and two Associate Fellows successfully designed a tool that would assist reflection, practice and future planning in the post-award phase. Results. The multi-component tool, and qualitative evidence of its effectiveness, will be presented. Discussion. The 'finiteness' of professional recognition programs has been acknowledged as being problematic for some time (see, for example, Israel, 2012). Experience also tells us that there is a need for stronger approaches to guide practice development in the post-award phase of recognition programs. The text articulates a design approach to the adaptation and reuse of existing, historically layered spaces, grounded in practice-based research and long-term project work across interpretative spaces, museums, heritage sites, and historical landscapes. It proposes continuity as an operative concept, understood not only as the preservation of material or form, but as the maintenance and recalibration of spatial relationships, atmosphere, accumulated meanings, and prior design decisions.
            Through selected projects, the text examines methods such as grading the intensity of the existing, visual calming through layered perception, furniture-based and non-permanent interventions, and the deliberate balancing of domestic and institutional character. Rather than relying on predefined rules, these methods emerge through continuous analysis and testing within the design process itself.
            By framing design practice as a form of research, the article argues for adaptive reuse as an open and iterative process, where change is introduced through interpretation and adjustment, allowing spaces to remain legible, flexible, and capable of future transformation.

The study of &#39;motivation&#39; in its variety of forms is something of an academic field in itself and it is a field that is vast. However, there are some pathways into that vastness and for those of us interested in its application to pedagogy, the pathways lead to some discrete (but not exclusive) destinations. First of all, there is the understanding that in terms of student motivation, there is the intrinsic/extrinsic ‘symbiosis’ to be considered. Secondly, there is the interpersonal dimension of tutor/student relationships for while there are models of ‘the tutor’ - and dominant cultural mental models - that emphasise the powerdistance dimension (Hofstede, 2001) in those relationships, the literature on motivation seems to show that &quot;equality-closeness&quot; is (paradoxically) a more powerful motivator. Finally, how we, as tutors, construct the ‘academic playing-field’ of assessments and feedback (amongst other things) are in and of themselves powerful motivators.

3D printing has emerged as one of the most promising technologies in recent years, which can be used in different areas, such as industry, medicine, engineering, entertainment, and education. In education, 3D printing presents several possibilities to contribute to facilitating the teaching  and  learning  process.  In  this  sense,  the  present  article  aims  to  carry  out  a  systematic review of the literature on Google Scholar from 2018 to 2023 to investigate and analyze works that used 3D printing as a teaching tool in the context of Natural Sciences in high school. The results reveal that the use of 3D printing is concentrated in three areas: (i) as a tool to overcome the  lack  of  teaching  material; (ii) as  a  tool  for  creating  accessible  material  for  students  with disabilities  and (iii) as  a  resource  for  the  teaching and  learning  process.  Furthermore,  research shows  that  the  use  of  3D  printing  can  add  knowledge  to  students,  facilitating  the  learning  of abstract topics that are difficult to visualize.

The improvement of science education in accord with the current science reform agenda requires the development of sophisticated instructional strategies that are grounded in a clear recognition of student understanding. We describe a pedagogical strategy, the assessment conversation, that helps teachers elicit student understanding and then use elicited and diverse student understanding as the instructional basis for achieving conceptual and reasoning goals in the classroom. We then illustrate the potential and challenges of using the assessment conversation through examples that have emerged from Science Education through Portfolio Instruction and Assessment (SEPIA), a project attempting to reform practices of assessment and mstruction in middle school science classrooms. Over the last decade, web has changed the way that educational procedures are delivered to students and has brought innovative learning technologies and possibilities that were not available before. The Web has evolved to a worldwide platform for collaboration, sharing and innovation, constituting what is called Web 2.0. Social media are an emerging part of Web 2.0 and have great potential to be used in education. The efficient integration of social media and Web 2.0 tools in educational systems and courses' curriculum mainly depends on tutors' abilities and experiences. However, in many cases, tutors are not familiar with social media and with many useful Web 2.0 tools and so fail in utilizing them into their courses. In this paper, we present an educational system that aims to assist teachers to develop e-Learning 2.0 knowledge and skills and thus turn them from just in-class trainers to skilled e-tutors. We present the educational courses and the learning approaches followed to assist tutors in applying web 2.0 tools and the social media in their courses for the best benefit of the students' learning. The educational system provides courses and learning material, and assists the tutor to learn how to utilize social media and web 2.0 tools in classroom or in distance learning with the aim to organize, monitor and share learning content, attract students' attention with entertaining activities and motivate them to become more active and collaborate in educational activities.The evaluation study conducted reports very promising results.

This chapter presents a case of an EDR study completed at a Canadian community college and resulting in the development of an innovative educational intervention, Mobile-Enabled Language Learning Eco-System (MELLES), as well as corresponding MELLES design principles, which emerged from this interdisciplinary research experience. The first section of the chapter provides an overview of the educational problem targeted by the study, the purpose and outcomes of the research, as well as the overarching research question. The description of the EDR methodology then follows including its phases, cycles and micro-cycles. The MELLES study adopted the Integrative Learning Design Framework (IDLF) for design-based research and the corresponding nomenclature. Accordingly, we refer to the preliminary phase of conceptualization as Informed Exploration, followed by the design/development phase called Enactment, and the assessment phase referred to as Evaluation: Local Context. The Purpose and Outcomes and the Study Results sections of this chapter summarize the key outcomes of the study which included the development of a prototype MELLES educational intervention, replicable design principles guiding the creation of such an intervention, a refined theoretical framework of Ecological Constructivism and a comment on the professional development benefits reaped by the study participants and observers. With emphasis given to the praxis of the EDR approach, the Reflections section revisits the main features of the EDR method as distilled from our study, which demonstrates that EDR both enhanced the design and implementation of the study and was able to guide measurement of its efficacy in this context.

In the Expert, competence is transmuted into social authority; in the Philosopher, ordinary questions become a skeptical principle in a technical field (pp. 6-7).

The Cri_Lab was an experimental workshop conducted within the context of secondary education (Visual Arts field) and professional education (Communication Design technician Professional Course) for students aged between 15 and 19 years old. Over the course of ten weekly sessions, visual arts methodologies were employed with the objective of challenging students to engage with the school space in a critical and reflective manner. Each session was designed with alignment with the school curriculum and the objectives set by the Portuguese Ministry of Education. The project´s aim was to raise awareness and promote education on themes such as Space and Territory, and how these relate to Art and Culture. This was done with the goal with the goal of contributing to an informed practice of citizenship. This paper will describe the planning and progression of the Cri_Lab sessions. It will also discuss the relevance of the experience for architectural practice and research. This will be done by describing, critically reviewing and listing considerations. Finally, it will consider how the methodology under study might constitute, or inspire, spatial interventions.

Las causas de las ideas alternativas son múltiples, pero una de ellas puede estar relacionada con los propios libros de texto que utilizan los alumnos. En el artículo se analizan, por medio de un cuestionario, las ideas alternativas sobre la energía de alumnos de primer ciclo de ESO de tres Centros de Badajoz y se comparan con las detectadas en los libros de texto. Figures show that the games industry remains a male dominated occupation. Anecdotally a link has been proposed between higher male consumption of platform-based games and career choices, though figures also show a higher female to male ratio in social networking games. This suggests that perhaps the type of gameplay may influence career choice. This study therefore interviews women who have chosen a counter-stereotypical gendered career pathway and who are students in Further Education and Higher Education who are in the process of making career choices, to understand better a potential link between gameplay and career choice. The key findings relate to the positive emotive language utilised by the participants, a suggested link between gameplay, the concept of a &#39;gamer&#39; and the choice of the games industry as a career, and serious concerns of abusive online gaming behaviour experienced by females. Comienza con un relato biográfico de los puntos de inflexión, de los contextos y experiencias que marcaron el sentido de mi pensamiento y mi práctica como docente e investigadora en relación a la educación en general y la tecnología educativa en particular. Sigue con una discusión sobre qué entendemos por tecnología y cuál es nuestra visión sobre la Tecnología Educativa, que sitúo en un continuo entre una visión compleja, la que la entiende como un sistema articulado como un todo, y una simple, la que parece estar a la búsqueda del aparato milagroso que resuelva los problemas de la educación. The emergence of generative AI has significantly impacted English Language Teaching (ELT), presenting both opportunities and challenges. This study adopts a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to examine the experiences of four university-level English teacher educators who have incorporated generative AI into their teaching methodologies. By employing theoretical frameworks such as sociocultural theory and connectivism, the research explores how generative AI can tailor learning experiences, enhance language practice, and promote greater accessibility and inclusivity. The study also addresses issues related to the accuracy of AI outputs, ethical concerns, the need for teacher training, and the associated costs. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, the research offers comprehensive insights into the practical ramifications of AI in ELT. The results emphasize the importance of thoughtful integration, ongoing evaluation, adherence to ethical standards, and extensive professional development. This study contributes valuable perspectives to the discussion on AI in education and provides actionable insights for educators, policymakers, and developers.

In this chapter, I explore the idea of ‘indiscipline’ and not obeying the rules – in particular the rules that the exploitative, linear fashion industry has created, and how these apply to textile designers. My ‘territory of expression’ is fashion textile design which addresses a concern for the environment, through the creative exploration of sustainable and circular design approaches. As I review some of the upcycled shirts I have made, I aim to build on the idea of indiscipline – looking for where I was breaking the rules – in order to uncover new opportunities and insights to support future pioneers in the field.

is an academic and researcher specialising in the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, leadership and sustainable energy solutions. He holds an MEd and EdD from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Birmingham. Currently, he serves as a Professor of Strategy at Università Telematica Internazionale (Uninettuno), Italy, alongside his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Longford International College, Ireland, where he oversees programmes in business and sports performance education. His research interests include AI's impact on adult education, gender inclusivity in higher education and the role of transformational leadership in sports and business contexts. Vincent is also involved in projects assessing the feasibility of sustainable energy solutions, particularly the use of pyrolysis technologies in community-led micro-energy initiatives. He is dedicated to advancing knowledge on the socioeconomic impacts of these technologies, with a focus on environmental sustainability and circular economy frameworks.
