Peekabox is a food-tech platform for bakeries, restaurants and grocery stores to sell their surplus food at a discount.

نبذة عنا

Peekabox is a food-tech platform helping bakeries, restaurants, and grocery stores across the GCC sell their surplus food at 50-70% off. Every day, thousands of freshly prepared food items are thrown away across the region. In the UAE alone, over $3.5 billion worth of food is wasted annually, 38% of everything prepared daily ends up in the bin. That's a massive problem for retailers, consumers, and the planet. We partner with leading F&B brands and retailers to list their unsold surplus as surprise boxes on our platform. Customers reserve and collect them in-store at guaranteed minimum discounts of 50%. Retailers turn waste into revenue. Consumers get quality food at a fraction of the price. Everybody wins. 1,000+ stores signed across 50+ brands including Costa, Carrefour, Tim Hortons, Dunkin', Paul, Armani Cafe, Eataly, Pret A Manger, Krispy Kreme, Address Hotels, and many more. Backed by some of the most prominent business leaders in the region, chaired by Dr Sameer Al Ansari, Former CFO of H.H Sheikh Mohammed's Executive Office and former CEO Dubai International Capital. For consumers → Download Peekabox and start saving on food from your favourite stores. For partners → List your surplus in 15 seconds and turn food waste into revenue. What happens when you combine KS3 students, Alumni and social enterprise? The answer: creativity, confidence, problem-solving, and a room full of energy. We were delighted to welcome Peekabox into school for our DESS Careers Business Challenge, working with students across Years 7–9 on social enterprise, food waste, food affordability and social-media marketing. What made this event even more special was that Peekabox are members of our own school alumni community, a brilliant example of former students coming back to inspire the next generation. Students took part in fast-paced business idea challenges, explored real-world problems, pitched their ideas to the professionals and created their own unboxing-style marketing content. The aim was to showcase that not all businesses need to be purely profit making and that solving some of the worlds social problems linked to the sustainable development goals is also possible and this challenge showed our key stage 3 students just that. The feedback speaks for itself on the success of the day: 95% of students enjoyed the day 100% said they would like more events like this Students rated the event 8.4/10 for recommending it to another student 78% volunteered to help lead future careers events What stood out most was how much students valued the hands-on elements. The business idea challenge and unboxing video task were the most popular parts of the day, showing once again that students thrive when they are given the chance to create, test, build and lead. One Year 8 student summed it up perfectly: “I absolutely loved it - an amazing way to end the year.” For us, this is exactly what meaningful careers education should look like and an added layer of what modern work experience can look like. Authentic employer and alumni encounters, real-world challenges, student voice, creativity and opportunities for young people to see themselves as future problem-solvers. A huge thank you to Peekabox for giving their time, sharing their journey and helping our students see that business is not just something you study, it is something you can create.

Arabian Business was always part of my morning routine. I would scroll through the founder profiles and quietly wonder what it would take to one day be on those pages. Today, Peekabox is. I have read the article three times just to make it sink in. Six weeks since launch. → 90,000 downloads. → 50 new major partners signed, all going live by the end of July. → Hit 15k followers on socials all organic It still feels like we have only just started. Moments like this make you stop and notice how far we have come in such a short time. Thank you to Justin Harper and the Arabian Business team for telling the story. And thank you to every person who has downloaded, ordered, partnered, invested, advised, or just believed in what we are building. This is your win as much as ours. Link in comments.

In the UAE, Peekabox says food waste is significant: more than US$3.5 billion worth of food is wasted annually, while 38 percent of food prepared daily is thrown out. Globally, the platform points to food waste as a US$1 trillion-plus problem. Peekabox is trying to move that surplus into a different part of the P&L. The UAE-based food-tech platform connects consumers with restaurants, cafés, bakeries and grocers selling surplus food at a discount. Through the app, users buy “surprise boxes” or selected items from participating outlets, typically at 50 to 70 percent off, then collect the order from the store. Customers get lower-cost access to recognisable brands at a time when living costs are rising. For operators, inventory that would otherwise be written off can generate incremental revenue, drive footfall and support waste-reduction targets. Peekabox says it has now signed more than 1,000 store locations across brands including Costa Coffee, Tim Hortons, Carrefour, Pret a Manger, Dunkin’, Krispy Kreme, Union Coop, Eataly, Ladurée, Armani/Caffè, PAUL, Choithrams, Cinnabon and Peet’s. Its partners span major regional operators including Emirates Leisure Retail, Majid Al Futtaim, Apparel Group, Azadea, Americana, Cravia and Emaar Hospitality. Coverage in Khaleej Times this weekend. The piece zoomed in on something we think matters: the actual price tag. Dh15 for a grocery surprise box, around Dh30 for bakeries, coffee shops, sushi outlets, and restaurants. That number lands when you consider most UAE households spend Dh800 to Dh1,500 a month on food. This is the side of Peekabox that does not always make the headline but sits at the heart of the model. Affordability and food waste, tackled in the same transaction. Thank you to Sahim Salim and the Khaleej Times team for telling the story properly. Link in comments.

50,000 people have downloaded Peekabox. Two weeks ago we launched. That number means more to me than any chart or metric. Behind it are 50,000 people who chose to save food instead of letting it go to waste. 50,000 small decisions that add up to something real. This is exactly why Omair and I built Peekabox. Good food being thrown away every single day, while the cost of living keeps climbing. We knew there was a better way, and it has been incredible to watch this many people get behind it so quickly. To everyone who downloaded, reserved a box, sent us a screenshot, or told a friend, thank you. You made this happen. We are not slowing down. There is a long way to go, more brands to bring on, more cities ahead, more food to save. But two weeks in, I just wanted to stop for a second and say thank you. This one means a lot. If you have not tried Peekabox yet, now is a good time. iOS and Android.

Peekabox in The National. Coverage like this matters because it puts a spotlight on the problem, not just the company. The article highlights that nearly 40% of food in the UAE is thrown away every year. That is the challenge our whole team comes in to work on. Since launch, the momentum has been humbling. Every new partner means more surplus food finding its way to a customer instead of a bin. We are grateful to The National for telling this story, and grateful to the partners, the team, and the early users who are making it real. Article link in comments.

Can a new app help Dubai cut food waste and grocery bills? Dubai throws away billions of dirhams worth of food every year - but now two brothers think they’ve found a solution. Hasan and Omar Sarwar have launched a new app called Peekabox - which allows residents to buy surplus food from cafés, bakeries, supermarkets and restaurants at discounts of up to 70 per cent. The platform’s already partnering with more than 1,000 outlets across the UAE - with the aim of reducing food waste while helping residents like us manage rising living costs. Hasan Sarwar and Omair Sarwar, CEO and co-founder of Peekabox joined Georgia Tolley to discuss their idea.
