  • GRIDSIGHT’s Lead Power Engineer Brad Smith was on stage at Energy Thought Summit 2025 in San Antonio. The theme of Hack the Planet centred on the continued shift in grid management from passive to proactive. Brad’s panel tackled this head on: "The New Energy Trilemma: VPPs, Wildfires, and the AI Power Surge" - three issues hitting utilities across the world. A few takeaways from the conversation: ⚡ AI load isn't waiting for the 10-year plan. It's arriving faster than traditional interconnection studies can handle, and operators need capacity information at their fingertips today. 🔥 Wildfire mitigation starts with network visibility. Most operators are flying blind identifying and planning for wildfire intervention plans. 🔌 VPPs only work if the network model underneath them is right. Get the foundation right and flexibility, orchestration and DER programs can be deployed more efficiently and effectively. Thanks to fellow panellists Cody O'Neil (Holy Cross Energy), Gerardo J. Delgado (Nicor Gas), Zach Pollock (Xcel Energy), and moderator Kimberly Britton for a sharp conversation. #ETS26 #hack_the_planet #VPP #GridModernization

Australia is leading the world's energy transformation: 40% rooftop solar penetration, ~650,000 household batteries online, and the electrification of homes, industry and vehicles continues to accelerate. The challenge now is solving the hard problems quickly enough to bring forward the benefits. Our utility customers tell us GRIDSIGHT is a key partner in that transition. Through our work with multiple DNSPs, we get a unique vantage point on the patterns, gaps, and opportunities that no single utility can see on its own. To help enable a more coordinated approach, we’ve been engaging with NSW and Australian Governments. The recent Made In the Illawarra event gave us a chance to spend time with Minister Chris Bowen from DCCEEW and Alison Byrnes MP at Australian Parliament House, alongside our partners Endeavour Energy (NSW) and the University of Wollongong. We spoke about how Gridsight's technology is driving national benefit by turning fragmented network data into unified insights that every utility, regulator, and government can act on. Gridsight is live and operational across Australia (plus NZ and the USA): helping DNSPs to service over 3 million customer endpoints (or 6.5m Australians) and 3.2 million square kilometres of network (42% of our landmass!). We work shoulder-to-shoulder with each utility on the specific grid challenges they face. There's a real opportunity to drive system-level consistency across Australia’s electricity grid (the NEM and WEM). We're proud to be helping shape it.

We’re making it easier for our customers to plan and connect new smart energy technologies, with the delivery of the first milestone in our strategic collaboration with Unison Networks.   In our collaboration, we’ve aligned and standardised hosting capacity capability across both networks, creating a more consistent and transparent way of calculating and presenting capacity at feeder and distribution levels. By aligning data models, low‑voltage analytics powered by GRIDSIGHT and hosting capacity map visualisations, our customers, developers and installers now have clearer, more reliable information to support decisions around new connections and investments in technologies such as solar, EV chargers and batteries. This milestone improves network transparency and reduces manual processes, helping us deliver faster and more efficient connection assessments as electrification continues to accelerate. With this foundation in place, we’re progressing the next phase of our collaboration, focused on improving customer experiences through consistent front‑end tools, automated connections, dynamic export limits and long‑term network resilience.   This is the first of many milestones as we continue working with Unison to deliver smarter, more responsive electricity networks for our communities. • Gridsight at the ESIG Spring Technical Workshop ⚡ Last month, Justin Diamond and Kara Holbrook spent three days in Tucson with utilities, system operators, researchers, and technology providers tackling the technical challenges shaping the grid's future. This year's focus on DER hosting capacity, flexible interconnections, and affordability couldn't have been more timely. Key takeaways: 🏃♂️ Utilities are deploying advanced grid technologies now - not in pilots, but in production - to increase hosting capacity without massive infrastructure builds. Flexible interconnections are accelerating DER connections and maximizing existing network assets. 💰 The affordability conversations reinforced what we hear from partners constantly: how do we integrate more DER, maintain reliability, and keep costs manageable for all customers? Proactive planning is how we get there. Why these workshops matter: This is where utility partners share what's working on live networks, where researchers present breakthrough approaches, and where the industry pushes each other forward through rigorous technical collaboration. Grateful for the connections and conversations shaping how we build the grid of the future. #ESIGConference #EnergyTransition #GridTech

  • We're hiring a Head of Network Strategy for ANZ, and we think it's one of the most impactful roles in the Australian energy sector right now! Here's why. Australia's grid is a postcard from the future. 40% rooftop solar penetration, on track for rooftop solar to be the largest generator in the NEM by 2030, and gigawatts of connection requests. The tools utilities have used to manage the grid for decades weren't built for any of this. At GRIDSIGHT, we're building the foundational grid model and decision layer that charts the path through all of this complexity. As our Head of Network Strategy, you will define the strategic direction of our partnerships with ANZ's most innovative networks, and by extension, build the blueprint that the rest of the world follows. If you've built your career in or around DNSPs and want to do the most important work of your career, we'd love to hear from you. • That's a wrap on Energy Networks 2026! ⚡ Three days in Adelaide with 1,250+ energy leaders, and the message from the industry couldn't be clearer: the transformation is real, and it's happening now! The biggest themes we saw were: 🔌 Australian DNSPs are leading the shift to DSO The shift to Distribution System Operators dominated discussions. Australia's DNSPs are working toward standardisation and cross-industry alignment. The NSW Distribution System Plan is a key example and it was powerful to hear from Colin Crisafulli, Timothy Jarratt FEI and Marc Thiébaut on how the conversation has shifted from "should we?" to "how do we do this together?", and how Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy (NSW) and Essential Energy are leading the way. 🔋Grid visibility as the enabler Andrew Bills' framing landed well: increasing utilisation of the existing network through better visibility and flexibility lowers costs for everyone. That's the DSO mission in a sentence. 📈 DER coordination is scaling Five years ago, this was theoretical. Today, tens of thousands of DER assets are behaving flexibly to support the grid, with many more to follow. The industry conversation has shifted from "can we coordinate DER?" to "how do we scale orchestration while maintaining reliability?” 🔬Coordination at scale demands more than schedules Real-time dynamic orchestration of DER, not static time-of-use signals, is what the grid needs. It's exactly the problem Gridsight has been built to solve. Thanks to Energy Networks Australia and everyone we connected with and shared their vision for what's next. The grid transformation isn't slowing down. Neither are we. 🚀 #EN26 #EnergyTransition Benjamin Rees, Sam Poustie, Robert Slater, Sean Baldwin, Robert Clear, Alexander Makarowsky, Nidhi Chandra
